With the number of diabetics growing here in the Philippines, I would just like to know how many of the Tsikoteers are Diabetic?

Maganda rin naman malaman natin. Maybe we can ask the administrators if we can have a special event meant for us in the future kase I for one, am a Diabetic.

At least magkaroon tayo ng awareness lalu na pag di kayo sure of the symptoms. Ako kase I learned I had Diabetes the hard way...

If there are Tsikoteer Doctors who are Indocrinologists or Diabetologists in the house, please do help us and enlighten us regarding Diabetes.

Take care of your health my dear friends always and God bless!

my father and grandfather (RIP both) was diabetic.

since diabetes is hereditary, i try to look out for my blood sugar level whenever there's a chance (free blood sugars, annual check ups, etc.) the past three years, my blood sugar is barely normal. konti (3 pts) na lang hypoglycemic na ko. my last test using the a digital device, 52 lang blood sugar ko. nagbreakfast pa ko ng konting choco cake nun. ndi naman ako nahilo hehehe.

Better safe than sorry...

naku sir, this is soooooo wrong. Diabetes IS hereditary. kung meron both parents mo, 90% chance magkakaroon ka rin.... just a matter of time. Kelangan medyo sobrang alaga ka sa diet and exercise to avoid it.

But yeah, what's alarming is the increase of diabetics na walang family history.

Even though you might not like what you will hear it's still for the best na alam mo gagawin mo

All i had to do was limit rice and watch what i eat... After a month nag ok na after ng follow up na sugar test...

The major diet change ko nun is no rice sa gabi as much as possible

Cathy, go see your doctor. The gym isn't the solution, just part of it.

There was a time na tubig ko eh Coke. Not knowing anything about diabetes, not realizing that when both side of the family have diabetes eh malaki chance magka diabetes.

Nasisi ko pa parents ko noon ng malaman ko may diabetes ako, they never warned me. Alam nila both side of family have history and alam nila lakas ako mag Coke. Anyway I only knew what really is diabetes when I realized I have it.

Kaya ngayon I share my knowledge Sa mga anak ko, lagi ko pinapaalalahanan about diabetes, what it is, that both their parents side have it, what they need to do, how to eat right. Things that my parents never thought me while growing up.

Me.. I'm on a maintenance na 500mg. Metformin 2x a day..

Last year i used to be 286mg/dl until i started to take Metformin 500mg 3X day. Now i hubble between 126-147 mg/dl and do my monthly fbs, sgpt & creatinine check. Except for FBS, the rest are inside the norm.

My sugar is 96 now. I ate at 12:30 pm at took the test at 3 pm. I am borderline!!! My normal is 84. What the heck just happened when 2 months ago my sugar was completely normal. I will go to an endocrinologist this week and see if he will prescribe medicine for me. Personally, I don't want to take any maintenance drugs because I don't want to damage my kindneys in the long term

Later I will eat chocolates and check if my sugar is still below 100. What are the foods that help lower blood sugar? My Mom eats okra.

Hav not tried red rice.

Yung gaya nang sinasabi ni uls na kahit normal level ka now, 1 bar of choco lang and in 1 hour taas agad FBS mo, that's when you are diabetic na talaga. Yan pagkakaalam ko ha, not an expert here.
