I don't think closed book na itong kaso ni kiefer. may behind the scenes dialogue jan & the parties involved will probably strike a deal w/ the pba (buy out?).

Not condoning his decision to sign the b. League contract because it leaves a bad taste in the mouth pero Grabe laki ng offer ng lakestars kaya naman talaga napa-bite the bullet siya siguro talaga. Who can easily turn down a reportedly cool P 9 mil/month? Baller ka na, ambassador ka pa ng produkto nila pati na din ng pinas.

At isa pa, hindi pa definite kung magkaka-pba this year.

Correct decision IMO, yan pala plano niya eh di hinde dapat siya pumirma ng 3 year extension, nag 1 year 1 year na lang sana siya.

He can't have it both ways. All out support na nga sa kanya mother team.niya and PBA after nag positive siya PED eh.

Although it will NOT be good for the PBA since if a player (especially Fil-Foreigners) plan to play overseas, baka per conference na lang contract na pirmahan nya knowing na walang opt-out clause sa PBA.

I've seen reports na Ravena received his salary during his 18-month suspension, sana kinuha nya muna yung PBA approval bago sya pumirma ng contract sa Japan.

Meron live contract tapos pirma sa iba? Kung papayagan yan eh di pwede na rin gawin yan ng ibang players kahit hinde foreign team ang kumuha, lipat lang sila ng ibang team sa PBA wala na pala kwenta yun kontrata sa PBA. So pag isang player ng Phoenix kahit melrn 3xisitng contract kung gusto niya maglaro sa SMB pirmahan na lsng niya agad new contract sa SMB.

Now I'm having a strong feeling na similar case with the new Fil-Foreigners kung bakit natatagalan yung contract negotiations nila... They want a short contract for the possibility to play overseas.

Simple lang naman iyan sa mga baguhang pba players (w/ foreign blood or not) who possibly want out - include a buy out clause in their contracts. It happens in the real world so why shouldn't it apply in the pro leagues as well, where an athlete's productive life is considerably shorter.

As for active players w/ live contracts, Pwede naman retroactive iyan pag napagkasunduan. Kikita na iyong team, kikita pa iyong liga. Ganyan ginagawa ng mga euro teams sa mga nba recruits for quite sometime now.

And hefty din ang buy out amount para ma-discourage ang player at recruiter. Pero at leadst may option kung persigudo talaga.

And i think iyon naman talaga ang intention ng lakestars. Na-alarm lang ang pba kasi this is a costly precedent and "star" pa na may loyal following ang involved.

Kalokohan din iyong "draft dodger" rule ng pba. Why are young turks duty bound to apply for the draft?

Look to the euro leagues on how to deal w/ young prospects. I'm sure may matutunan silang worth their while. Insular lang talaga ang mindset ng pba old boys club.

ayon sa aking nabasa sa pinoyexchange, Sa post ni JayPMercado eh nung recent draft gusto itrade ni kapampangan guiao si japayukief doon sa filam rookie kaso dahil talk & text ang main franchise eh hindi natupad ang gusto ni kapampangan.

Sa tingin ko masama loob ni japayukief kasi franchise player sya ng nlex tapos may nakita si yeng na he thinks na mas magaling so bibitawan na.

But the problem kay kiefer eh nagkaproblem sya sa international drug test sa fiba, uminom ng dugas powder pampalakas stamina. Tinulungan sya ng pba kasi ampaw testing dito. So wala talaga sya karapatan maginarte ngayon. Hindi pa sya umuusbong sa pba puro hype pa lang.

pero...the pba is set to institute new rules designed to counter the diaspora of young basketball studs to the leagues of japan, south korea and elsewhere. will it be fair though? we'll see
