Not necessarily bad if Lin goes elsewhere and JKidd takes the reins in NY. Despite his age, Kidd is still better than Lin in running the offensive set of any NBA team and is the better passer, to boot. About the only thing Lin can do better than Kidd at this stage is to drive to the basket against half-court defenses.

It would be better if NY can hang on to Iman Shumpert as a backup PG, since with age comes the inevitable occurrence of injury throughout the regular season. Perhaps they can also extend an offer to Jameer Nelson (not the best of fits, but at least he's serviceable).

But there's a certain tax which I forget what it's called that Knicks need to pay sign up lin, it will be expensive
