^I initially thought about getting 34 too but once I tried a 36 from a friend, it absorbs the rocks much better. I don't mind the extra 200g to compensate for my lack of descend skills... lol
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?
Nasa set up yan, chief. You just need to set the correct sag, rebound, and compression, in that order. You might want to do that for your current fork, too, dami materials online to guide you. The Fox 34 is more than enough for riders who don't use jumps/drops over 5 feet. Unless ga-tao na yung features na tinitira ng rider, overkill na Fox 34. Check the most recent reviews of the 34, if you like.
A heavier fork will make your "lack of descend skills" worse as there will be more weight pulling your front down when you hit a rut or drop, causing imbalance. It will also be harder for you to correct the front when needed in an emergency, like a sudden wash out at a steep section.
If it were true that burlier forks are better for ALL conditions, we would all be running dual-crown DH forks. ;)

DVO is too hard to come by.
and I prefer a fork that is familiar to the LBS mechanics.

balancing the bike is exactly why I'm going for a 36 on a 2014 gt sensor. and it's that not heavy considering it's only 30 grams heavier than a pike. but yeah, you can get away with a fox 34 on the newer sensor frames...
case in point:

I used to mountain bike, stopped around two years ago, 2x a week ill be in nuvali, we used to be regurals of aling Ps when she was still alive, when almost all the trails leading to her place was still intact, did mostly trails of laguna, silang and tagaytay, plus monthly century rides from pque to tagaytay and back, planning purchase a fat bike for me and the wife, not concerned bout the weight, progressed from a sub 22lb XC to a big burly and heavy trail/AM bike, fat bike seems to be a natural progression, im thinking bout the surly pugsly, i could put a bigger 4.8in tire upfront and a 29er on the rear if need be, if money was no issue, ill get a 25lb carbon salsa beargease on sale for 150k.

plan to rebuild the trail in the video. obviously not passable at the moment because of the fallen tree.
fortunately, there's a ton of rocks I can relocate from the area.

rebuilding the trail. progress so far is that I've dug a trench with 4 feet of clearance. 2 more feet to go so it'll be passable.
been cleaning the trail as well. it's littered with rocks, dead wood and lots of roots underneath the dead leaves. so far, I've only cleared 1/5. not bad, I guess, considering I'm doing all of it myself :/

Managed to cut down 2 minutes in stage C and survived stage A without going over the bars(lol)
Stage A is the one in 38:05. The descend lulls you into a false sense of security until you reach the last third where you drop off to a -40% gradient(the one with a carabao) and it becomes a super narrow rut single track.

just sharing a glimpse of a local trail
the track is about a mile long and did it in 3 minutes.
training in the downhill sections of the local mountains helped me a lot when dealing with technical sections.
