    Mga kapadyak, opinion lang.

I have an old GT frame. Now I have to buy new parts, but on a budget. Problem is, lahat naka disk brakes na. If I buy a new fork, wala na Vbrakes post na, so need to go disks ako. However sa likod ko naman, wala akong mounting holes for disk brakes.

    Nakita ko ito.

Not sure kung kasya pa ito pero baka flimsy masyado for a disk brake setup. So I was wondering if I should go "Mullet style" meaning, disk sa harap, v-brakes sa likod OR use this adapter.

May mga gumagamit niyang adaptor for disk brake.

i have several bikes, i got one with hydraulic discs and i still have one using V-brakes and i've ridden lots of trails with the v-brake bike. v-brakes work just fine.

don't give in the stupid pinoy mentality. puro porma i.e. disc brakes. our country is phucked because of this mentality.

of course i'm aware of the advantages of discs, better modulation, etc.

just get a used fork with v-brake bosses

For me ang advantage lang ng disc brake is during wet and muddy rides.

Nung naka V-brakes ako not once did I change my brake pads.

Kung 29er or 27.5 gusto mo frame, wala ka na choice except to go disc. Wala na din mabili ceramic rims. Had one before, great during rain rides kasi di nawawala stopping powr kahit mabasa rims.

just make sure na parehong klase ng drop-out yan sa bike mo.

Na narrow down kuna yung entry bike na kukunin ko in the following order:
    1. Merida Big 7 100
    2. Giant Talon 27.5 3
    3. Cannondale Trail 5

    Any comment?

Halos pare-pareho lang sila ng specs and price bro. Lahat naka-XCM fork, chop suey Altus/Acera/Alivio groupset, and entry-level hydro brakes. These are good enough parts while you're learning the ropes. The frames are good enough to serve as your platform for future upgrades.

I would go for the Giant, followed by the Merida, then the Cannondale.

Thanks Bro, any bike shop that I can source yung item 1 & 2 na mura? I've seen sa other forum na kayang kunin ng 22K yung Merida from 26K. Not so sure lang kung anong bike shop.

Same with Jut, Giant, Merida, Cannondale.

Kung saan mura, hmmmmm, di mawawala ang ever reliable Quiapo and Cartimar. Sa Quiapo, go with Cycle Art or Decimal for me. Kung Cartimar, Ross or Paulinas.

    Jryanmc Bikes
    Cannondale Trail 5 - 25.5k
Merida Big 7 100 - 26k pero SRP yan. Call daw for discount

    Glorious Ride
    Giant Talon 3 - 25k

To add, madami rin bike shops along Pasong Tamo (Edsa to Waltermart).

First na tinitingnan ko for prices is jryanmc and Glorious Ride sa FB. Then tawag sa King's, Cycle Art, GC Cyclist and Cristy's.

Usually di naman nagkakalayo mga price nila. Try to haggle over the phone, though better talaga pag in person na.

Bro check this out, Merida Big Seven 70, naka SRAM X5 na - this is equivalent to a Deore already. 10 speed na rin siya.

Better value than the Merida 100 and Giant Talon and also looks better IMO.

May Matts 70 ako (2014 model) and magaan siyang frame bro. As light as my higher end Matts TFS 1000. Kaya for me sulit na yan.

    For me, hindi siya ok.

First, Sava is a relatively unheard of brand. Local pa nga ata yan. I don't think it has the same quality control standards as Giant or Merida, or even the more affordable Vision/Fuji/KHS frames. Tapos carbon pa yan - a carbon frame bike for only 40k is very fishy. I would rather buy a high-quality 6061 alloy frame than a shady carbon one.

Second, it's overpriced for its specs. Yung crank nga di man lang Shimano. The post also makes no mention of what fork and brakes are equipped on the bike, which leads me to think that it's very low-end.

    Giant ATX 2 27.5 frame - 9k
    Deore groupset - 12k
    Epicon fork - 8k
    Shimano MT-15 wheelset - 4.5k
    Truvativ Stylo cockpit - 3k
    Kenda SB8 tires - 1.8k
    Generic pedals - 500
    Velo saddle - 500
    TOTAL: 39.3k
