Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank have reached a settlement of the various legal disputes including that pertaining to Manny Pacquiao. Bouts between Manny Pacquiao and marquee fighters under contract to Golden Boy will be co-promoted by Golden Boy and Top Rank. Fights between Manny Pacquiao against fighters other than Golden Boy fighters will be promoted by Top Rank with Golden Boy retaining a promotional interest. The first fight which will be presented under this arrangement will be Manny Pacquiao vs. Marco Antonio Barrera on October 6, 2007 at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy, and Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, both agreed that the settlement will be great for boxing as Top Rank fighters will be taking on Golden Boy fighters in the months and years ahead. All other details of the settlement are confidential.

this is a pretty much redundant fight.

paquiao has nothing to prove anymore with fighting a guy whom he beat satisfactorily.

barrera has no reason to climb up the ring with paquiao anymore, he licked the canvass for a good number of times.

marquez would have been a better choice.

pero syempre, pera pera na lang yan.

    October? Tagal pa nito.

Pacquiao pa rin yan. Lalo na ngayon, lahat ng galit niya, ibubuhos niya kay Barrera. Talo eh. Kelangang bawiin yung P140M pinamigay nya nung May elections.

It's a great matchup but I would prefer Pacman going against Joan Guzman, Edwin Valero and Juan Manuel Marquez. Barrera was soundly beaten by Juan Manuel in their last fight. I hope Pacman hurdles this fight and fight those fighters that I mentioned.

    Kayo, saan kayo manonood?

standby na lang dito sa tsikot. Dito na lang ako hintay ng update

sayang ang P500 pesos ko. Not interested to watch the fight.

but my fearless forecast is Toprank and Golden Boy will let Barrera win, so a third fight will be held. After all, boxing is a very lucrative business

Pacquiao to celebrate, Barrera to retire after Vegas fight
    10/07/2007 | 01:16 PM

After his win over Marco Antonio Barrera, Emmanuel “Manny" Pacquiao has nothing else on his mind but going home and savoring his victory.

Pacquiao said he was careful in his bout with Barrera, which lasted until the 12th round.

“He’s still strong, he is not an easy opponent. I respect Barrera," he said, adding he does not know whom he will face next.

For now, he said he plans to go back to the Philippines to celebrate. “I hope the people will enjoy (this victory)," he said.

Vice President Manuel “Noli" de Castro Jr added, “we are proud of Pacquiao and we are proud of the Filipinos who are the real winners."

For his part, Barrera said he is retiring from the sport, saying he is happy regardless of the outcome.

“I am happy, I feel bad but no problem, this is a sport," he said.

He said that despite his defeat, he proved that he was an able boxer. "I'm very happy because all the people say that Manny Pacquiao will knock me out in three or two rounds but you look, up to 12th round I am very good."

When asked if this was his last fight, he said, “Yeah I’m finished ... I’m finished with his beautiful sport," adding he felt good to have lasted the distance. “12 rounds I am very good," he said
