Hi Guys, I am planning to buy a Mountain Bike this month. This is in line with my pagtitipid ng gasolina and fitness cross training. Any shops na mererecommend ninyo that sells good but not so expensive Mt. Bikes? Budget ko is P2k but would not exceed P4k.

    pero good quality talaga

i have a mountain bike too pre, my personal opinion sana is for you to just increase your budget a little bit. baka marupok na unit makuha mo, gagastos ka lang kakapagawa.

i also suggest that you assemble everything from scratch para maayos makuha mong parts.

pero tama si kimpoy. kung kukuha ka ng parts (o even yung assembled na), madaming maayos and maganda sa cartimar.

    consider getting shimano parts on:

    a) pedals
    b) front fork
    c) main pedal bearing.
    d) caliper brakes

yan ang mabibilis masira sa taiwan made bikes. the rest, like yung frame, pwede ng steel dyan, wheels and rims, pwede na yung taiwan made, chain and yung derailleur, pwede na ring taiwan made.

No plans na umakyat ng antipolo or go biking sa highway or main road. Ok na yung mga taiwan made siguro. Basta wag lang makakalas pag nadaan sa lubak or sa humps o kaya mayat maya e kakabit mo yung kadena dahil nadiskaril he he. BTW Yung mga bikes ba sa tobys ok or overpriced?

I just bought a bike - it's a red 2009 KHS Alite 150. Cash price is P15,000 with free saddle bag and chain stay scratch protector.

I bought from Power Bikes in Rockwell, Makati City. I think it's XC set-up.

You may join pinoymtbiker.org and learn more about bike brands.

Medyo limited yung choices ko eh. Kasi ang frame size ko ay 19" or 20". And, only few stores that I canvassed have these sizes.

So, when I found one with 19" frame and within my budget, I bought it.

I'd still budget around 5k or more. As much as possible, get one Shimano gearset (kahit rear lang... no way will you need so many) because cheap gearsets have a tendency to foul up... no need for expensive forks or shocks... but brakes would be a nice upgrade.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I bet you're a rider like me in the mid 80s.

I still have my Haro Dave Mirra BMX. I think it's a 2001 or 02 model.

Shocks and special forks are for real rough-roading only... even rigid frames and forks will stand up to light trail riding. I hardly ever use the front gearset and the rear gearset at the same time (c'mon, admit it... it's silly!) and you don't need the lowest front gear unless you're climbing a mountain. But I do admit, if I had the money... in would go a lighter frame, new alloy wheels...

    Mountain Bike
18 speed, alloy rims, front shock and seat suspension,
    grip shift gears

    P2,899.00
