Confused lng ako guys. Nung bata pa ako pag may fever ako, my mom would wrap me in a blanket para pagpawisan ako. After ko pagpawisan, I would feel well.

Pero I read in some internet articles na pag may fever ka, dapat nasa cool environment ka. Yung anak ko kasi pag may trangkaso, I would turn the aircon on para cool yung room.

    Parang contradicting diba?

Fever is a symptom, not a disease. You don't treat it per se. You treat what's causing it (infection, etc.). Sometimes the cause of the fever will spontaneously resolve in a few days so you just ride the fever out.

Hindi na uso yung binabalot sa kumot. Hehehe.

Kapag walang aircon, sponge bath is a good way to lower body temp. Punas lang ng punas. It helps if you have a ***y nurse.

An individual with a fever should be kept comfortable and not overdressed. Overdressing can cause the temperature to go higher. Tepid water [85 degrees F (30.0 degrees C)] baths may help bring down a fever. Never immerse someone in ice water. This is a common misconception. Never sponge a child or an adult with alcohol; the alcohol fumes may be inhaled causing many problems.

Nice post Vtec. Use water for the spongebath. hehehe. Never use alcohol.

Baka umalis yung nagpupunas. hehehe.

Sweating is a way of lowering body temp. A sponge bath is another way of lowering body temp. Kumbaga you are just helping the body's natural coolling system. Hindi naman yung pagpawisan per se ang important dun, ang important is the lowering of the temp that is a result of the pagpapawis.

A result you can also acheive with a sponge bath or a cool environment.

Yep, sir Otep is correct, fever is no disease. Its a symptom. Its also a sign that your body is fighting from bacteria's.

AFAIK, pareho lang ang acetaminophen at paracetamol. Yung ibuprofen ang iba. Tama ba doc?

acetaminophen is the US approved name for paracetamol.

wrapping up a febrile patient can induce overheating, convulsions and death. leaving a moist cool towel on the patient's head can cause/aggravate a headache.

one of the latest trends regarding vitamin c states that although healthy individuals experience little to no immune boosting benefits with regular intake, sick individuals given vitamin c generally experience less severe symptoms and recover earlier than those who were not given vit. c.
