• Origins point to China, with confirmed cases so far in: Japan, Macau, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the USA.
• There are suspected cases in many more countries (like the PH) but there is no concrete information yet that it is the same pathogen.
• This virus can be transmitted between humans.
• It causes fever along with pneumonia or pneumonia-like symptoms.
• Its symptoms include, among others, fever, breathing difficulties and coughing, all of which are described as "flu-like".
• It is not a strain of SARS or MERS.
• No specific treatment yet other than the usual anti-viral meds for coronaviruses.
• Mortality is roughly 2%.

The National Health Commission (NHC) has authorised hospitals nationwide to quarantine any suspected carriers of the virus and their close contacts, even against their will, with the coronavirus having caused nine deaths in the city of Wuhan, in central China, and infected more than 440 other people across the country.

The two-year-old child was brought to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital while the other one was brought to a private hospital after both showed symptoms of coronavirus.
The two Chinese children, however, were eventually released from the hospital and allowed to go home.
