personally, i wouldn't call his pronouncements as totally without basis.
but only history can judge, whether our efforts, founded or not, were useful or not.
if we were to argue at the outset, over what should be done back then, argueing for a quorum and significant majority decision, baka hanggang ngayon ay nag-a-away pa tayo.
the bottom line is, "someone has to make those hard decisions".

The problem is some of these guidelines were made mandatory. Based on the transcript, some of the guidelines came about without sufficient basis (and based on some studies could even be detrimental).

knowing they were uncomfortable at best, how many of us would have followed these guidelines if they were optional?

it's an infectious disease. but early on, we knew next to nothing about its behavior.
i would certainly have started with generic guidelines that were logical enough because they worked in controlling the spread of similar infectious diseases in the past.
social distancing... masking... isolation... vaccines... these seemed logical enough at that time... even today.
they may since have been modified, as we learned new information.

with long emergency room queues, and folks literally dropping dead in the streets or while in line for treatment... we all wanted our vaxx asap.
let us remember that at that time, researchers could not yet generate the numbers, to compute for vaccine statistics and long-term effects. basically, they were making educated guesses.

would i blame them? ...dunno. it is possible that i am alive today, because of a direct or indirect effect of any one of the aforementioned guidelines and vaxxings.

this is humanity's first modern, potentially fatal, pandemic.
we have lots to learn from the experience.

in my opinion,

definitely an educated guess! and with basis, even!

masking is an accepted method of preventing the spread and acquisition of respiratory infectious disease, IF we wore it religiously correctly.
social distancing is an obvious precaution, to prevent the spread of respiratory infectious disease.
personally, 6 feet in covid is too generous and wishful thinking; alas, it might be an unfortunate compromise to human nature and commerce.
so where did they get the 6 feet? apparently, googling, 6 feet is mentioned several times in respiratory infectious disease literature, as an acceptable distance vis a vis aerosol respiratory droplet travel...
but hey! i enjoyed the social distancing immensely! i wish sometimes that it would remain the norm for a long time.

in those early days of covid, who would have guessed that children and adults would behave differently, in the face of covid?

in those early days, mankind did not have the covid manual to consult. mankind had to compose it from scratch, by ekeing out every little drop of covid's secrets, with great difficulty and suffering, from a very kuripot na kalikasan. and they would regularly update it, as soon as new information are available.

I also agree. During those dark and uncertain times, and even now, I would still give more credibility to the advice of Dr. Fauci, Doc d, and all of the truly QUALIFIED medical experts and M.D.s, rather than the hordes of so called "experts" on the internet who act as if they know everything but have actually accomplished NOTHING.

and i came to the conclusion,
"these people did not want answers or enlightenment. they were angry and wanted to blame someone!"
