COVID Coronary Plaque Infection Confirms CV Risk

New evidence shows for the first time that the virus that causes COVID directly infects atherosclerotic plaques in the coronary arteries, producing a persistent inflammatory response.

The findings may not only explain the link between COVID and the increased risk of cardiovascular events but mark a starting point for new therapeutic approaches.

"Our study shows there is persistence of viral debris in the artery," senior investigator Chiara Giannarelli, MD, associate professor of medicine and pathology at New York University's Grossman School of Medicine, told Medscape. "There is an important inflammatory response. We can now look at ways to control this inflammation," she said.

Giannarelli says COVID is more than a respiratory virus and that it can affect the whole body. "Our study shows a remarkable ability of the virus to hijack the immune system," she points out. "Our findings may explain how that happens."

hosepitals have been swamped with cancer patients, even before covid.
another possibility, na-ipon at lumala ang mga kaso, dahil ngayon lang sila nakapunta sa ospital, dahil sa mga covid quarantine periods.

viral illnesses have been with us since time immemorial, but we did not go to the horsepital for it. "trangkaso lang yan. inom ka ng dalawang cortal. lilipas rin yan sa makalawa."

but it is only now, that we are more concerned with these illnesses, because of what covid wrought.
"these traditional diseases have been here all along. but it is only now that our consciousness about them have been awakened."

does exposure to sarscov2 spike protein (via vax) also trigger the same "pro-atherogenic inflammatory responses in human coronary vessels"?

Based on the latest Disease Surveillance Report of the DOH, there were 158,307 ILI cases reported from Jan. 1 to Oct. 14, 2023.

The number is 46 percent higher than the 108,065 ILI cases reported during the same period last year.

ILI is defined as a medical diagnosis of possible influenza or other illness causing a set of common symptoms. These include fever, shivering, chills, dry cough, loss of appetite, body aches, nausea and sneezing typically in connection with a sudden onset of illness.

Moderna shares hit by quarterly loss and waning Covid vaccine demand

Moderna slumped to a far bigger quarterly loss than expected and delivered a disappointing sales forecast, sending shares in the Covid-19 vaccine maker down as much as 18 per cent.

The Boston-based biotech group, which was one of the pharmaceutical industry’s biggest winners from the coronavirus pandemic, reported a third-quarter loss of $3.6bn, or $9.53 a share, far worse than the $1.79 a share expected by analysts.

Just over $3bn of the loss stemmed from charges related to deferred tax allowances and the scaling back of the company’s vaccine manufacturing. But Moderna said that waning demand for Covid vaccines in the US meant its full-year sales would be at least $6bn, the lower end of its previous guidance and below analysts’ forecast for $6.6bn.
