don't vaccinate your kids if they're healthy. check the numbers, kids just shrug covid off

Statistics seem to show that the boosters work at reducing the risk for hospitalization even if they are designed for Delta & Omicron's ancestors. And it makes sense naman, even if the antibodies generated are cross reactive lang to the current strain, more antibodies is better than less antibodies. Better to push back against the infection in the early stages than letting it get a deeper foothold and hoping T and B cells will take care of it.

from the link Mons posted (but wasn't quoted by Mons):

A growing number of experts now agree that Omicron is good news and likely to be the way out of the pandemic and back to normality. A weaker variant is exactly how the Spanish Flu, which swept across the world between 1918 and 1920, eventually came to an end.

History appears to be repeating itself, and Taiwan needs to be ready to embrace this new reality as quickly and efficiently as it dealt with the previous one.

Attempting to keep Omicron out altogether is just not a realistic approach anymore. We need to move beyond our obsession with case numbers and focus instead on ensuring that we are doing all we can to minimize the number of people being hospitalized.

But we also have to accept that some people are going to get sick from Omicron and some are going to die. Viruses do kill people — that’s just a fact of life.

We have the tools to minimize this now — vaccines — and we need to use them. It's time for a new push to get as many Taiwanese as are willing vaccinated with three shots of an effective COVID-19 vaccine.

Now is the moment to make the choice to stop hiding away and embrace the opportunities presented by a variant that will give most people nothing more than a runny nose and sore throat.

It is time to stop being scared of COVID and learn to live with it as we have every other virus in the world. It is time to embrace the opportunity of Omicron and return Taiwan to normal.
THAT is exactly my view re covid now (not in 2020, not during Delta surge 2021)

that's my view re covid 2022

i know mahirap baguhin ang covid mentality developed in the past 2 years

many powerful/influential people, decisionmakers will continue to hold the old view -- reactions and responses will still be based on number of cases (then lockdowns)

sana dumami mga tao who will abandon the old view (COVID = DEATH) this year

my view is if a new circulating variant is less harmful i'll take my chances nalang

kesa lalo ko gawin permanent ang antigenic imprinting by repeated injections of wuhan spike vax

    --

iniisip ko ang future variants beyond omicron

kung masyado ko sanayin ang immune system ko sa wuhan spike, hindi na matututo lumaban sa future variants na maari mas malayo pa sa ancestor kesa omicron

Thanks for this. According to the study (not yet peer-reviewed) mortality is 2 per million. Of course it sucks if out of the million, one of the 2 is your kid. Now I wonder what the risks of vaccines are.

do some reading outside the mainstream

oh here's something mainstream (Jan 6, 2022)... Women’s Periods May Be Late After Coronavirus Vaccination, Study Suggests - The New York Times

last year many women have noticed changes to their menstrual cycle after getting vaccinated

    ngayon lang nireport ng MSM

if you have a teenage daughter...

that's including unhealthy kids. it drops to 0.5 per million if you exclude unhealthy

vaccine risks for kids w/ their just-developing immune systems, can be quite serious in the long run. too many unknowns. so it's pretty obvious that we shouldn't vaccinate them coz they're not affected by covid in the first place
