My view, the fault lies in the media giving OCTA air time & to the OCTA members for voicing out their concerns. Maybe it’s about time OCTA works under the DOH.
OCTA is objective in their report. They look at the numbers, the stats. but they shouldn’t be independent.
Businessmen, economists, politicians & the general population do not like being locked down for obvious reasons.

*sorry, you did mention in an earlier post na “dapat hindi binibigyan ng airtime mga ito”

yes i mentioned several times in this thread that media gave octa too much airtime

i think a lot of people also felt media and octa's fearmongering influenced gov't decision-making

i'm not the only one with that view

i'm not saying octa is so influential that the gov't follows their advice

i'm saying media's non-stop reporting on delta (including airtime to octa) influenced public opinion

after pounding delta into public consciousness for 3 to 4 weeks, if the gov't did do anything puro batikos aabutin niyan

the gov't needed to act para wala masabi ang publiko

(media --> public opinion --> pressure on gov't)

Is OCTA a gov’t entity?
OCTA is just doing it’s job & that is to look at the numbers. But I think they should work under either the IATF or the DOH since their main concern is to avoid rising cases that may overwhelm the healthcare system. In the movie “Pearl Harbor” the intelligence officer (Dan Akroyd) said his role is to gather data & intelligence & pass them off to the decision makers to analyze the intelligence. Ganun din dapat ang OCTA.

Octa should not recommnend, only inform the numbers. Gaya noong nag spike ang Covid sa Bauan from 5 to 81 to 142(not sure sa numbers). Based on the numbers, recommend nila lockdown ang Bauan. Hindi naman nila alam na ang spike ng cases were confined to EEI fab shop lang. Nag self quarantine kasi ang EEI. Kaso napasukan ng Covid, kaya spike agad. Lahat doon sa loob na exposed. Pero hindi reason bakit lockdown ang buong Bauan. Octa should only inform what is definite. And hindi mag salita na may baka meron, kasi pag sabi mo baka meron, baka wala din..

No problem with OCTA at least hindi lang ang palpak na DOH ni duque ang pakikinggan natin. As long na makakatulong sila sa bayan walang masama. Look what delta wrecking havoc sa indonesia, thailand at malaysia.

Eh di same ang lalabas na projections nilang dalawa which is ganun nga nangyari ngayon kaya mag 2 weeks lockdown.

Eh diba agree din sila joey Concepcion sa lockdown which was first brought up by OCTA and sinabi mo rin pag hinde nilabas ng OCTA hinde mag lockdown agad pero eventually I'm assuming gagawin pa rin.

I guess kahit anong ingay ng OCTA kung mali numbers nila eh di kontra hin ng IATF ay Hindr makikinig sa kanila. About sa people pressuring the govt para mag lockdown, kailangan pa nakinig itong duterte sa pressure ng tao? Sa dolomite for example hininto ba nila?

So I really can't see the hate towards OCTA, ang mali talaga eh inuunahan nila IATF but sabi ko nga pag hinde nila ginawa to put pressure on them by releasing the figures baka naman hinde gumalaw ang DOH kahit nakakatakot na yun projections nila.
