Kaso 3 years? Dapat 1-2 years na lang si KG. I hate seeing him playing way too long. Pero baka kung hindi na din siya competitive kusa na rin yan mag-retire. But for now, go KG21!!!

Former La Laker Kareem Abdul Jabbar retired at 41, KG is going 37, given 3 years he'll be 40. I still see him contributing for the Celtics baring any major injuries along the way, his intensity and work ethic are the intangibles that this franchise needs to build around for the years to come.
From what info I've seen so far, the 3rd year is not guaranteed. If KG's no longer competitive and can't run with the younger bigs (at least, in his eyes), I think he'll be the first one to walk away as he holds himself to a higher standard when it comes to playing. Plus, DA is getting him some help on the front line so he won't have to keep playing center.
If Mr. Shuttlesworth goes to another team (hopefully not in South Beach), I hope the C's can land Jason Terry to inject offensive punch into the 2nd unit. I think he can also play some PG since he was used in this role early in his career with Atlanta.
Yeah most probably 3rd year is an option. KG is too proud to let the young guns just stymied him... he will probably do the decent thing.
*ans_lim: Siyempre hindi lahat kagay ni KAJ diba. Tsaka mas matagal na sa NBA si KG dahil 17 pa lang ata siya eh naglaro na. Iba na din kasi yung speed ng game now compared before. But DA did the right thing to surround Rondo with athletic bigs nga. Very good draft for BOS.![]()
Anyone have an idea when the Las Vegas summer league would start? I'm eager to see how JJJ and E'Twuan have developed (if at all). As well as a glimpse of the future with Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo. Boston could use some of that leprechaun luck in getting a young star (a'la Paul Pierce when he landed inexplicably on the lap of the Celtics).
And just like that, the Big 3 era in Boston is over.
Well, it's a surprising turn of events for the C's, losing Ray Allen to their ECF rival. The Jet will help ease that pain, though. I hope Ainge picks up Nick Young and the newly-amnestied Elton Brand just to up the ante.
Read that the C's can't just turn around and offer US$9M to another free agent since the contract offered to Ray Allen was also in consideration of the team's "Bird Rights", or being able to go over the salary cap to sign its own free agent. All they can offer now is $3M to another FA.

After Allen bolted to South Beach, the Celtics are on recruit mode ..... targets Courtney Lee.
The Boston Celtics have emerged as a serious suitor for Courtney Lee after coach Doc Rivers met with the free-agent guard Saturday night, according to sources familiar with Boston's thinking.
Sources told ESPN.com that the Celtics, in the wake of losing sharpshooter Ray Allen to the Miami Heat, have ratched up their pursuit of Lee as a possible replacement.
Lee averaged 11.4 points per game for the Houston Rockets last season and hit 40 percent of his 3-point attempts.
C's can't sign-and-trade Krstic - Boston Celtics Blog - ESPN Boston
Almost forgot about Nenad Krstic ( Center who was part of the Jeff Green for Nate Robinson and Perkins trade in 2011.)
With an overseas report earlier this month indicating that Nenad Krstic might not return to CSKA Moscow (where he bolted on a two-year agreement during the NBA lockout), some have wondered if the Celtics could utilize his Bird Rights ( which the team maintain) to facilitate a sign-and-trade.
The new collective bargaining agreement appears to make that impossible.
After the tomfoolery that occurred with Keith Van Horn (Nets land Jason Kidd) and Aaron McKie (Lakers land Pau Gasol), the league closed a loophole in the new CBA by noting that a player can no longer be included in a sign-and-trade unless he finished the previous season on the team's roster.
That appears to wipe out that option for Boston. Now, if the Celtics simply want to re-sign Krstic -- provided he desires to return to the NBA -- they can go over the salary cap to bring him back. Acquired in the trade deadline swap that sent Kendrick Perkins to Oklahoma City,Krstic earned $5.5 million in 2010-11. And, regardless of how Greg Stiemsma's restricted free agency plays out, Boston could always use a big man.

Dionte Christmas looks good. That kid Kris Joseph has a chance to get into the rotation as a PP sub.
Boston Celtics finalizing sign-and-trade for Houston Rockets' Courtney Lee, source says - ESPN Boston
Looks like Courtney Lee is heading to Boston.
The Boston Celtics are close to acquiring free-agent shooting guard Courtney Lee in a sign-and-trade deal with the Houston Rockets, according to a league source.
The Celtics are expected to send out JaJuan Johnson, E'Twaun Moore, Sean Williams and a second-round pick in exchange for Lee, although it's still possible the pieces could change as the sides work to finalize the trade.
With those combined contracts, Boston could absorb as much as $4.25 million in the first year of a contract for Lee. Any sign-and-trade maneuver requires a minimum length of three years.
Here's what I got from the Boston Herald:
LAS VEGAS — It took awhile and a couple of false starts, but the Celtics [team stats] got their man last night, acquiring Courtney Lee from Houston in a sign and trade for JaJuan Johnson, E’Twaun Moore, Sean Williams, Sasha Pavlovic and a second-round draft pick. The paperwork is expected to be finalized today.
The deal originally had Phoenix and New Orleans as facilitators, but that came apart late yesterday afternoon Pacific time. Late last night, Portland became the third team and Pavlovic was included. The amended details were still being learned as the Herald’s final print deadline passed, but the Celts will clearly be ecstatic to acquire the coveted 6-foot-5 Lee without disturbing their main rotation.
Johnson, Moore and Williams skipped the 91-82 loss to Sacramento, leaving the Celtic entry with nine players in uniform. Moore and Williams arrived at Thomas and Mack Center prepared to play when they were told of the situation. Each spoke with coach Doc Rivers and president of basketball operations Danny Ainge before leaving the arena.
The transaction appeared to hit a snag during the afternoon, but both sides said it was back on track later in the day. Sources told the Herald there were still moving parts and that other teams had been involved at different points.
Because the move is a sign and trade, Lee will be able to get right around the $5 million midlevel exception the club used on Jason Terry. The C’s had been trying to make the Terry deal a sign and trade to keep the slot open for Lee, but it appears they have found another way to get him the money he was seeking as a free agent.
Before the game, Ainge wouldn’t confirm or deny reports of the trade, but he again spoke well of Lee, who became an unrestricted free agent when the Rockets did not make him a qualifying offer.
“We think Courtney’s a good fit for us, yeah,” said Ainge. “He’s a good player. He’s a both ends of the court player. He can shoot, can defend and he runs. Good fit for us.”
Rivers also declined to discuss deal specifics, saying, “I can’t talk or say anything.”
But he essentially referred to the move when he said, “I think our summer’s been good. At the end of the day, if we get everything we want, I think we would have had a great summer.”
Lee will almost certainly begin the season as the starting two-guard alongside Rajon Rondo [stats]. With Avery Bradley recovering from shoulder surgery and Ray Allen having skipped town for Miami, the Celts had a critical need for a guard with size.
Speaking of the Allen loss, Rivers said, “You don’t have to replace the player with the same type of player. You can get a different type of player, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
Christmas gift
Trading Moore will likely open a spot on the roster for Dionte Christmas, who has been extremely impressive with the summer C’s. The team will need to give him at least some partial guarantee to get him to training camp, as it is expected that Christmas will have good offers overseas, if not from other NBA clubs.
Sources: Celtics sign Jason Collins - Boston Celtics Blog - ESPN Boston
Christmas says he has deal with Celtics - Boston Celtics Blog - ESPN BostonThe Boston Celtics are set to sign veteran center Jason Collins to a one-year, veteran-minimum deal, according to league sources.
With restricted free-agent center Greg Stiemsma prepared to sign an offer sheet with the Minnesota Timberwolves -- one the Celtics appear unable to match due to salary-cap constraints -- Boston has moved quickly to add a legitimate 7-footer to their frontcourt rotation.
The 33-year-old Collins, a veteran of 11 NBA seasons, gives Boston a defensive-minded big man who can give quality minutes off the bench. Collins' offensive game is much-maligned and, for his career, he's averaged 3.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. In 30 regular-season games with the Hawks last season, he scored a mere 39 points, but was a pest against the Celtics in the teams' first-round series because of his defense (and occasional offensive burst).
LAS VEGAS -- The Boston Celtics have reached an agreement with free agent guard Dionte Christmas, a team source confirmed to ESPN Boston on Sunday.
Full details of the deal are not known, but Christmas said following the Celtics' 92-77 summer league loss to the Los Angeles Clippers that the contract will be partially guaranteed.
"I actually got the call before the game started," Christmas said. "I don't really know all the details now, but I'm going to go over them with the staff. But I'm just happy, man, emotional. I actually got the call literally two minutes before the game started."
The Celtics and Christmas' representatives had been discussing a potential deal all week, with Christmas seeking some sort of guarantee from the club. He said he had received significant offers to continue playing in Europe, where he had spent the majority of the last three seasons, but Christmas maintained throughout the week that his ultimate goal was to make it to the NBA this coming season.
"That was my whole mindset," Christmas said, "to come in here and try to get (the Celtics) to like me and bring me in, and it happened."
Christmas, 25, went undrafted in 2009 after a four-year career at Temple.
In Summer League play, Christmas averaged 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and shot 47.9 percent from the field overall and 45 percent from the 3-point line.
I like Dionte Christmas.
He kinda reminds me of a long line of undrafted but really solid players like Derek Fisher, Kelenna Azubuike, Darrel Armstrong, Bruce Bowen, Raja Bell, etc.
Christmas may not be a future all star, or even a borderline one, but he will be a part of the C's rotation if he can maintain consistency in his play.
19 years ago death cut short his path to be the the next great Celtic. R.I.P Reggie.
