REYKJAVIK - US-born Chess legend Bobby Fischer, who has lived in Iceland for more than two years, has died at the age of 64, Icelandic media reports said Friday.
"We know that he died yesterday (Thursday) in his home in Reykjavik," a journalist at the Morgunbladid daily told AFP, confirming a report on Icelandic television.
Fischer made headlines around the world by defeating Soviet world champion Boris Spassky in 1972, in a Cold War chess showdown in Reykjavik known as the match of the century.

Bobby Fischer known as the destroyer of the arrogant Russian federation in world chess and claimed that he achive all every possible moved in board. Despite all his fame and glory a national hero he became an enemy of the state after making deregatory remarks about the 911 incident in New York.
