    2008 Beijing Olympics
    Pinoy Contingent

btw, here's the list of Philippine contingent:

    1. Tshomlee Go (Taekwondo)
    2. Toni Rivero (Taekwondo)
    3. Mark Javier (Archery)
    4. Harry Tanamor (Boxing)
    5. Miguel Molina (Swimming) - 200m Individual Medley
    6. Daniel Coakley (Swimming) - 50m Freestyle
    7. James Walsh (Swimming) - 200m Butterfly
    8. Ryan Arabejo (Swimming) - 1500m Freestyle
    9. Sheila Mae Paez (diving) - womens 3m springboard
    10. Rexel Ryan Fabriga (diving) - men's 10m platform
    11. Christel Simms (Swimming)
    12. Eric Ang (Shooting)
    13. Henry Dagmil (Athletics) - mens long jump
    14. Maristella Torres (Athletics) - womens long jump
    15. Hidilyn Diaz (weightlifting) - women's 58kg

although only one pinoy boxer qualified, i still think that boxing is probably our best chance to win a gold.

looking at how competitive the trials were for other countries in swimming and track and field, palagay ko malabo na magmedal ang RP dun.

so i guess it's the shooting/archery sports and taekwondo - are the RP teams highly regarded internationally in those sports?

    15million + a car

Terrific opening ceremonies! The fireworks, the choreography, the effects... the drum lightshow and dancing typefaces were particularly impressive pieces of work.

Sad thing is... close to the end of the song and dance numbers, our cable provider blocked/censored CCTV1!!!

Now I know Olympics coverage is worth a lot of money to some people... but if I pay for cable, I expect to be able to watch what I want on the channels I have! Of course, the RPN broadcast was okay... but they cut out to commercial so many times that they almost missed the entry of the RP team!

Freaking Sky... censoring channels we're already paying for in order to sell pay-per-view? A big F*** Y** to you!

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I actually feel sorry for the audience... four hours non-stop... and the stadium looked hot (lots of people fanning themselves). But the spectacle was worth it. This'll probably stand as the best Olympic Opening ever for a few decades to come.

They also removed Solar Sports (months ago). This is one time I wish I were in QC, where we have Global Destiny and Solar.

I thought the flame died when the torch bearer soared to the air... What an amazing torch lighting ceremony!!!!!!!!!!!

Walang binatbat yung mga flamed arrow lighting dati :rofl01:

Did you see the fireworks after the torch lighting? It spanned a couple of miles around the nest hehe... I think the "haze" helped the fireworks hehehe.

This was IMPRESSIVE to say the least.

I think I've never heard a quarter of the countries that marched during the opening hehehe.

    Amazing opening presentation....

Yao Ming was the perfect flag bearer hehe, he just towers over everyone during the final stretch of the march.... Although the Chinese's suits look like they work for McDonald's...

That stadium is GORGEOUS when filled!

The painted floor thing was pretty neat as well.

Kinda pity those cheerleaders that surrounded the ring, though... They look tired halfway through the intros.

molina and simms made a good showing but the respected time they made is not enough for them to qualify into the semis.

    sayang din si tanamor.

Seriously, though... Phil can't even dominate in SEA games, let alone Asian games... Olympics? Long way to go....

Nico: Wushu is just an exhibition event, not medalled.
