venus fly trap? (mosquito trap?) hehe
Yung mint yata yun... meron sa Tagaytay dun sa Gormet cafe
Its called the Neem Tree.
A young tree fetches a price of P 300.00
Yung mga pinatuyong dahon ng neem ay
pinauusok para lumayas ang mga lamok.
Paki investiga kung bakit maraming lamok diyan
sa lugar niyo at baka may stagnant water somewhere.
Delikado ang lamok dahil sa dengue. Dami nang namatay
dahil diyan...
yung bunso namin (6 yrs. old) mukhang may dengue..baka maconfine sya mamya..2nd time nya na ngayon..
kiper,
nagkakaroon na ba yung bunso nyo nung rashes? hope everthing is ok
Lemon Grass or Citronella ay merun din mosquito repellant effect...the amoy itself ng plant ay nagreresist ang lamok. If you boil the leaves and ipunas mo sa skin mo...its like off-lotion.
Some thai dishes like Tom Yam (parang counterpart ng sinigang natin) also have lemon grass.
Cheap lang ito (para lang itong talahib pero lemon/mint flavor ang amoy - as the name imply) and most plant shops should have it.
kung gusto mo namang mura lang pero malayo, sa tabang, bulacan nlex exit. just go to NLEX and take the overpass for tabang (the old expressway exit to malolos). pag labas pa lang ng nlex dami na for sale na plants. just ask ano yung pang-lamok and they have seferal varieties. if you're planting a garden and you plan to buy a lot then it's worth it going there. tawad lang ng tawad.
Neem tree is effective.
In our house in the province, I have the following plants for mosquitoes:
Eucalyptus Plant
Citronella Plant
Different Species of Pitcher Plants (somehow the mosquitoes are drawn in by the liquid inside the pitcher) - These in the pictures are the ones I have right now.

Another plant is the Kamuning plant which we have a lot here in Manila and the province. It's not only a mosquito repelling plant but also an alternative medicine plant.

Wow LR! How did you grow the Eucalyptus Plant? I buy Eucalyptus leaves regularly and a bunch costs around P300. I heard that it's difficult to grow daw?
Di uubra sa dry places, matutuyo, unless you create a wet and humid surroundings. Meaning all day dilig ka or ilagay mo sa tabi ng isang pond. Tama ba ako, ms. LR?
Oh, by the way, they don't repel insects but rather they do the opposite, i.e. they attract and trap them inside the pitcher-shaped portion of the plant. They are classified as carnivorous plants. Hehehe, nagparang botany class na.![]()
