I got a Hydroflask 24 oz on sale and I was surprised to see the original price was over P2k (for a 24 oz)
I don't wanna carry anything bigger kasi I want it to fit sa standard cup holder.

I'm using zojirushi brand, the one with ceramic coating. No metallic aftertaste compared to regular SS flask.
There is a secret coating applied to aluminum cans in beverages that eliminates the metal aftertaste.
errr,
it's a "secret" in that the consuming public is not universally aware of it,
but the thin plastic inner coating is common knowledge in the aluminum can beverage industry.
there are interesting youtube videos on how it can be... exposed.
aluminum is a reactive metal, and it has to be insulated in acid-containing foods like soft drinks, etc.
it also probably prevents that metallic taste...
la lang.
We used to have a water dispenser in the house. But we found out that you can't completely clean the path of the water. The pipes/tunes are sealed, inaccessible, and cannot be disassembled. So it developed a weird taste and smell. Parang lumot. I noticed the same thing with every other dispenser in other houses and offices. So I stopped getting water from any dispenser.
Stainless Steel water bottles, on the other hand, are completely cleanable because each part is accessible. If any part retains an objectionable taste, a good washing with dishwashing liquid will do. And if that isn't enough, Polident cleaning tablets help. Of course, some tastes and smells cannot be completely removed. But that takes at least a couple of years. The coffee stains of my daughter's 3 year old HydroFlask are just now starting to get darker. That's unlike our old Colemans which would start retaining tastes and colors in less than a year.
The lumot taste is in the water bottle itself. This is the problem with water bottles stored under the sun, they grow algae. Since we have our own water purifier, what I do is shake the bottle with a little water to clean out the algae. Kahit galing pa sa water purifying station yan na may reverse osmosis, if you keep them outside, magkakalumot yan, visible or not.
All brands have to be cleaned. I have colemans from 6 years back, hyrdoflask, Kleen and a Takeya. All four developed smell and taste after sometime. Need talaga linisan specially the thread part and/or the nozzle/silicone tip/straw. Yung yung nagkakakulay itim.

Overrated hydroflask imho (gifts lang yan at yung kleen sa akin, Coleman and Takeya ang inili ko). Tagal na ng coleman pero no fanfare. Mas matibay naman di hamak coleman. Kahit Takeya ang tibay din. HD talaga. The video below proves it.
