Dyan nasisilat dahil sa overconfince.

Case in pt, team usa in the early 2k's. Mga 2nd tier stars lang pinadala nila, end result laglag sa olympics.

Kung magpaparticipate lang din, always bring your best as much as possible.

May mga import na pba caliber ang mga asian teams. Plus, some teams have star players talaga (sa abl naglalaro).

Tsaka nasa home court na, papasilat pa ba? Alam mo naman mga pinoy mapride din.

Times changed. May mga nationalized narin ang mga karatig bansa na pro. Got to stay on top. Kakahiya naman bread and butter tapos olats pa.

Kagandahan ngayon,mas maraming platform ang amateurs to showcase their skills. Kung magaling ka talaga, your time will come to represent the country.

the original raison de etre of games is,
"better to fight it out in the football field, than to fight it out in the battle field".

in the olden times, 1960s... wala pang play-for-pay.
all of our star players of the afternoon and evening games, were something else, in the morning. office workers.. tricycle operators.. even the referees.. policemen (referee cahanding! who doesn't remember him! his profile was more popular than some of the star players'...)..

i agree.
it is the greatest of honors to represent one's country in the Games.
but as every athlete knows, it feels much, much better, if one won. and it feels simply terrible, if one lost, because he feels he let the nation down...

why send out the second raters, if the first raters are easily available?
"hey! they're sending out their second-raters! let's send in our second-raters, also. para fair..."
