^ Masama yung early training results niya but he is still young and as they say, "never underestimate the heart of a champion!".

BTW: 16 medals pa lang siya, 2nd sa record na 18 so he needs 4 medals to get that record in the olympics.

Phelps has 16 Medals now. He aready has the most Gold medals on record, 14.

He is expected to get a medal on all the 7 events in London.

Target: 3 to beat record, 23 Medals total.

This Olympic record is expected to last more than 40 years, like the one that he will break next week.

^ my mistake 3 medals nga to get most total medals in the Olympics.

Sayang at kulang yung prepaation ni Ian Thorpe at hindi sila magkakalaban ngayon. Pero sa 2013 Worlds sana one last time magkasabayan sila.

After the 2005 SEA Games in Manila where the PH finished w/ 133 medals vs. TH (87) and VN (71), akala talaga ng marami malakas na ang pag-asa sa international sports. Then in subsequent SEA Games, nangamote na naman ang Pinas. 2005 turned out to be fluke.

I remember those donation cans in supermarkets and dept stores with "support Philippine athletes" sponsored by Smart and PLDT and after the '08 Olympics, we ended up with another big disappointment. Columnists and politicians called for an in-depth study (don't remember kung may investigation pa) of PH sports. Makes me wonder what happened to all those donations.

Now here we are in London 2012 with a whopping 11 athletes. Kawawa naman sila, because this year there is a total of 64 delegates from the PH, which means there are 53 officials and support personnel vs. 11 actual competitors. I can understand athletes requiring support of 3 or 4 people (coach, doctor, trainer, even a psychologist) but what are the other "officials" supposed to be doing?

I may be a dreamer, but I will still support team Philippines - the 11 athletes of course, and I wish them the best. They choose to represent flag and country despite the shortage of funds, despite the politics surrounding their sports associations.
