Naabutan ko pa kapag mahal na araw, totally no TV or radio kaya my Dad and I would stock up on betamax that became vhs then laser discs to watch. Nung 90s wala ako alam na resto sa Manila na open kapag Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

I think 2010s talaga hindi na ramdam ang holy week because almost everyone has internet and there's youtube and social media na.

I remember posting on Tsikot, this was probably early 2010s na I passed SLEX past midnight ng Good Friday. I was the only car, medyo disconcerting.

With the advancement in technology such as the internet (now with netflix), DVD's and Cable, it seems that mas bumibilis na ang paglipas ng Holy Week. Anyway looking at the posts of how traffic looks like today over at FB is such a sight to behold.

    of course!
the former was more enlightening than reading the Holy Book.

mom loved the Ten Commandments. i also liked the two actors there, yul brynner and edward g robinson.
at that time, we could watch it only in the moviehouse. we waited a long time to get a betamax copy (at almost four hours long, it came in two cassettes!).

i like the chariot race scene in ben hur, created without the benefit of CGI. i still replay it todays.

    OT.

Methinks the Battle of Carthage scene in Russel Crowe's Gladiator (yr. 2000) is a homage to that scene in Ben Hur...
