Air 21, Petron, Ginebra submit seven-player blockbuster deal to PBA | InterAKTV

Air 21, Petron, and Ginebra submitted a blockbuster three-way trade for the approval of the PBA on Wednesday.

In the deal, the Express will receive Petron big men Noy Baclao and Rob Reyes and Ginebra wingmen KG Canaleta and John Wilson; Petron will receive center Magi Sison, guard Paolo Hubalde, and a 2014 second round pick from Air 21; and Ginebra will receive Elmer Espiritu and Air 21′s first round pick in 2013.

PBA commissioner Chito Salud relayed news of the deal to InterAKTV, which reported initial details of the deal as early as last week.

“It’s already in our office and I will decide on it on Thursday,” said Salud, who has the authority to veto or revise deals he deems imbalanced.

Franz Pumaren earlier told InterAKTV that the team intended to build up its big man rotation, and this trade accomplishes exactly that. “At least we got our wish to beef up our frontline,” he said.

With the deal, Petron is able to carve out a rotation spot for June Mar Fajardo, the 6-foot-10 former University of Cebu slotman selected first overall in last Sunday’s draft, who will no longer have to contend with Baclao and Reyes for minutes at the crowded center position for the Boosters. Dorian Pena and Danny Ildefonso also play center for the team.

Ginebra, meanwhile, is building for the future with the trade, tabbing a first round pick that figures to be among the top selections next year.

Air 21 is also working on a deal to secure the services of forward Leo Najorda from Barako Bull. The Express are expected to give up Eric Salamat in the trade, but because the two teams are part-owned by the same company, Barako Bull and Air 21 are prohibited from trading directly with each other.

Alaska set to trade Tenorio to Ginebra, but GlobalPort holding up deal | Team Pilipinas

Despite earlier pronouncements that they did not want to trade LA Tenorio, the Alaska Aces have agreed to a deal that would send the star point guard to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

According to sources privy to the negotiations, the Aces have agreed in principle to part with Tenorio, Wesley Gonzales, and Hans Thiele in a blockbuster deal that would net them GlobalPort guard JVee Casio and Petron veteran Dondon Hontiveros, who has reportedly been informed about the deal.

But the deal is in limbo because of GlobalPort owner Mikee Romero’s refusal to part with Casio without getting valuable pieces in return.

Tenorio is coming off a banner performance for the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national squad, winning Most Valuable Player honors in the squad’s title-winning campaign in the 34th William Jones Cup.

“The Alaska organization is proud of his contributions and that’s a big thing for us,” Alaska team manager Joaqui Trillo.

But Alaska Milk Corporation chairman was reportedly unhappy by Tenorio’s pronouncements that he would continue to suit up for SMART-Gilas in the team’s campaign in the FIBA Asia Cup in September.

Trillo earlier revealed that the team received feelers for Tenorio from teams belonging to San Miguel Corporation and the MVP Group of Companies.

“If they want him they have to pay the price,” said Trillo less than two weeks ago. “But we intend to keep LA, he’s the face of the franchise.”

Apparently, that’s no longer the case, with Tenorio on the way out.

But sources say that it’s only a matter of time before GlobalPort parts with Casio, last year’s top overall pick.

According to one insider, parting with Casio was a consequence of GlobalPort owner Mikee Romero’s purchase of the Tigers franchise. The PBA team was originally offered for sale by Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc. to San Miguel Corporation, which had right of first refusal to any sale of the league franchise. Instead, it was Romero’s Sultan 900 Capital, Inc. who ended up acquiring the Tigers.

If the Casio trade pushes through, only Gary David will be part of GlobalPort from the starting lineup of a Powerade squad that made a Cinderella run to the Philippine Cup finals last year. Marcio Lassiter and Doug Kramer were traded prior to the Governors’ Cup last season, while Sean Anthony was dealt in a draft-day transaction.

^putrages! eh di hindi din makakalaro si tenorio niyan next month sa tokyo kasi nasa smc group na siya.

w/ the infamous clause in his contract w/c allows him to play for the national team if and when he desires, it would be interesting to see if the former blue eagle would still push through w/ his decision to play for gilas 2, w/c he has been publicly proclaiming these past few days

    abangan ang susunod na kabanata...

p.s. successful din pala iyong free nonoy baclao movement ah
