Waiting for my Christmas gift to arrive early this year.
"popcorn" aka OB is exactly the kind of people who gives DLSR photographers a bad rep... pauso-uso peeps who simply use their DLSR cameras as fashion accessories.
For those saying your camera-phone is as good as a DLSR, can your phone take a picture equal or better than this? Yes or No.

IMO. A cam phone won't be able to replace a dedicated camera like a DSLR. Kaya nga may camera at may phone, kanya kanyang forte. If you put both in one device, expect one of the functionalities to suffer.
If ever I want to shoot a good photo, may sapat naman nang abilities yung Sony cam ko although syempre mas quality talaga ang photos ng SLR.
OT na.![]()

Conclusion
So let's get some questions asked and answered:
Are these cameras better in image quality than the high-end compacts? Yes.
Are these cameras as good as a low-end DSLR in image quality? Yes, with some minor quibbles with the m4/3 models, which are lagging slightly in dynamic range.
Could you abandon your DSLR for one of these? Maybe. There are things you give up and things you gain. But if you're asking in terms of image quality and lens quality, then the answer is a little split, but probably yes. The m4/3 cameras are challenged above ISO 800, the NX and NEX systems are challenged by lack of lenses right now.
Is autofocus performance good DSLR-like? No. None of these cameras are great at continuous autofocus tracking, though they're at least as good as any compact camera, if not better. Some of it will depend upon lens. I found most of them are faster with the simpler primes, and some lenses to be faster at focusing than others. I think we're one generation away from getting really good (but still not phase detect level) focusing.
Can I use my current lenses on them? Yes, but on the m4/3 bodies you probably won't want to unless they're 4/3 lenses (due to the 2x crop factor), and on all of them you won't want to unless you like manual focusing.
Should you consider one instead of a compact? Yes, but note that you won't be shirt-pocketing any of these, even with their smallest pancake prime lens.
Are they worth the money? Probably. I picked up the E-PL1 during a big sale for US$399 (with lens!) from Best Buy (!), and at that price it's a bargain. I wouldn't pay more than a low-end DSLR for one, though, unless you absolutely can put a price on smaller size and weight.

Same here never really suck into the photography thing, Ang bigat eh saka Sa mga parties or get togethers sigurado 50% who will attend meron DSLR...pakuha ka na langOriginally Posted by Chikselog

8"+ daw...will they really follow Samsung? I thought apple is the trailblazer?
Go to 9to5mac.com for the latest rumors. Updated sila dun.
and why would i take my dslr to someone's party and take their photos? never! ano ako photographer for hire? for free? di nila kaya per hour rate ko hahahaha! bumili ako ng dslr for me, not for them.
at ano ngayon kung 10x a year ko lang nagagamit yung dslr at nakatago siya sa cabinet 11 months and 20 days in a year? paano kung kelangan, use the ipad? and look like a fool?
etc etc.
the thing is, pag kailangan ko andun meron ako. and i want it to that standard, no compromises. and i want it NOW, not later.
now, balik sa ipad3. seriously i'm considering instead the asus transformer prime 32G wifi 3g. same price. anyone has this?
Everyone is suprised at the success of the 5.3" Galaxy Note. Pad and phone 5 million units sold.
Samsung recently disclosed that they have sold 5 million Galaxy Note smartphone/tablet devices globally, and officially credited that particular smartphone for helping them to one of their best financial quarters ever in Q1 2012.

it all boils down to preference. some people are happy with blurry or grainy pictures. as long as they can see their face they are happy with it. but those with a higher standard for photography will definitely look for a better or best equipment for it.
an example is the swiss army knife. it does have everything in it. but, will anyone be cutting an 8foot 3/4 thick plywood with it? dont think so.
with the moon shot given by ghosthunter, which i must say is very good. i dont know any phone or tablet that can do that.
You can learn slowly. I started learning by using a simple point & shoot camera and some basic instructions (watching some tv shows that teach photography helped). Later when I felt I have outgrown it's features, I went to a more sophisticated camera (Canon Powershot SX210is). It's still a point&shoot but with much more manual controls to learn how to make the best photos in different environments.
ako ngaun, ganyan mga kasama ko naka-DSLR mapa-binyag, wedding, or any other get together. ganda ng pics ko tapos sila na upload tag pa nila. parang walang kahirap-hirap no effort. tapos gusto gusto pa nila ako piktyuran coz I look good on camera with my fit body
-----
