Thanks everyone. I'll look for an electric fan repair shop. I bought a Union fan tonight because it looks to cute P900. A lot of the models I see in the mall are dowell. I wonder if that brand is good.

it looks nice, but the traditional design is still more efficient, in my opinion.
the only reason i'd have one in my house, is because someone gave me one. for free.

Thanks for the replies. I suspected na hindi nga kasing ganda ng usual design.

How about box fans? Traditional propeller blade but no oscillating "head".

Meron ako Vornado that has been in use for more than 7 years na I think.

Mahal sya pero so far ok naman sya. I only got the small one for room use. I guess matibay pero daming factors to consider. Personal use lang sya sa room and maingat ako sa gamit. Pero every night halos ang gamit nya mga 4-6 hours a day.

I think most of the local well-know brands are fine... as long as they have a local service center:

3D, KDK, Standard, Asahi, Hanabishi, Imarflex, just to name a few.

I've had our Asahi tower fan repaired at their repair center. They replaced the oscillating motor assembly plus cleaning and everything only cost under P200.

And here's a tip, when shopping for a fan, the shape of the blades matters.

The banana-type bladed ones may look nice and modern but they're noisy for the amount of air they provide. On the other hand, the older-style, wide-bladed models might look out-dated, but they're relatively more quiet and throws air farther than the banana-type ones.

Reviving this thread. Seems they don't build fans the way they used to anymore. We have 1+ year old 3D and Westinghouse, 2 Panasonics and a 2 year old KDK bite the dust. I don't plan on going to get them fixed any time soon. Maybe after the pandemic.

Now choosing new ones from Asahi, Standard, Sharp and (sigh) Panasonic. Are the Sharp ones ok? Asahi is ok for me but they seem to vibrate quite a bit more. Panasonic seems expensive for the now shorter service life. Standard I haven't had in a while, are they still good today?

Remove panasonic on your list. Very bad experience with that. Ang hirap pa ayusin.

i like KDK, even if it costs almost twice the others, because it's the only one with a 1/2 speed.
but such models are hard to come by nowadays.

This is actually my first choice. I like the aesthetic too. Simple and clean look. I just don't remember Sharp having made electric fans before. Hopefully these will last long like their other appliances.

I have the smaller one. That's the one that broke early. Liked the look of it too, but that one probably had the worst ratio of noise to wind speed. How old is yours?

Oh, really? Bought these a while back, some 3-4years ago, if a recall right. Both on daily duty into the wee hours. One to cool the PC, the other, us.[emoji4] I don't mind the blow noise. Had enough of them fancy plastic ones that die young. I still see the Matsushita Stand Fan in the old ancestral working. No one builds that way anymore.[emoji852]
