Liz, virutally, any external Tv Tuner should work with your laptop as long as your laptop satisfies the minimum system requirements.

External TV Tuners are connected though a USB 2.0 port. Some tuners are powered by outlet, some are USB powered which means you don't need to plug it in a 220 outlet anymore.

Most TV Tuners come with a small removable antenna that you can bring anywhere, unfortunately, these small antennas are not strong enough for a good reception.

regarding usb-based na tv tuners, hindi ba choppy ang video? nagkaroon kasi ako dati ng usb-based na video capture apparatus. ang choppy ng video. this is because hindi kayang pantayan ng speed ng usb port ang frame rate ng video. kaya ang nangyari e nagkakaroon ng mga dropped frames resulting in choppy video.

nakakatuwa isipin. kapag nasa bahay na libre ang tv, dvd ang pinapanood natin. kapag nasa labas ng kayang kaya makapanood ng dvd sa laptop, tv naman ang hanap natin

Magiging choppy ang video kung sa USB 1.1 mo isasaksak. That's why important that the tuner should be USB 2.0 compliant and that you actually will use it in a USB 2.0 port. There are many good reviews out there. Just hit the search sa yahoo.
