last weekend, may virus alert na lumalabas whenever attempt ko play cd sa computer. search ko sa google "trojan media player" voila!

wallon virus wrecks windows media player.

A new mass-mailing virus called Wallon, which wipes out Windows Media Player and is activated when a user tries to play MP3 or video files from an infected PC, was discovered in Europe on Tuesday (story modified 12 may 04, 11:44am pdt) ...Maikel Albrecht, a product manager at Finnish security company F-Secure, said that because of recent virus outbreaks, users are less willing to open e-mail attachments, which is why Wallon's author is counting on users clicking on an e-mail link instead.

"The link in the e-mail points to the actual virus, so if you click the link, you download the virus." Albrecht said.

However, once the PC is infected, Wallon remains dormant until the user tries to run a media file such as an MP3 or a video...


question: pardon my ignorance... nai-infect din ba cd if played sa infected PC?

Ok lang pag sa WMA ang infected para matamaan na naman ang Microsoft. Mag- Real10 Player na lang po kayo. Tungkol po sa tanong hindi pwedeng ma-infect ang CD dahil WORM (Write Once Read Many) sya.

medyo nahihinaan kasi kami sa fsecure eh.. talo yan ng symantec o kaya ng mcafee... INSECURE ang labas ng FSECURE pagdating sa mga virus eh... lalo na sa mga worm..

nah. lift ko lang un sa isang article.

symantec po antivirus gamit ko. ang di ko lang alam is why every start up naman nag virus scan, pero wala naman nadetect. lumalabas lang un virus alert kpag mag play ako audio/mp3/video through media player. pero sabi naman successfully deleted daw un file.
