    Jonski, the virus might have modified your registry or DLL settings that is related to the DISPLAY option inside the control panel. If you're very familar with the Windows registry and you know your way around, inside and outside the registry then you can try and look for the modifications that the virus made and undo it.

    ADD:

    Run regit. Once inside the registry, the wallpaper settings can be found at:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\System
    "Wallpaper"=SZ:C:\WINDOWS\desktop.html

    Delete this. HOWEVER, please backup the registry before you delete anything.

    Try to run an on-line virus scan. Most of the time, these on-line scans can find viruses that youre installed anti-virus program would not be able to find.

    However, I suspec that you have some sort or variat of the WM/Wallpaper Word macro virus. Question: is the wallpaper a B&W picture of a skull? If it is, then you definitely have the WM/Wallpaper virus.

    If this is the case re: WM/Wallpaper virus, try these:

    1. Delete the file "c:\windows\temp\sk2.bmp". It can also be sk1, sk3 and so on so you need to look for these carefully.
    2. Open Win.ini and look for any reference to the named file above. Better yet, remove the wallpaper value.
    3. If you're running an autoexec.bat file, try to find the modifications there as well.

    Good luck.
