malamang sira na yan. based on my experience, the cd/dvd drive will still open and close but it won't be detected. if you can't find an original repalcement part, there are external dvd drives.

baka marumi lang contacts nung drive ... ganyan din nangyari sa hp laptop ko (dv1000) ... removed the screws, pulled out drive, cleaned the contacts, problem fixed and never came back

rule out first the possible causes.. it's either a hardware or a software cause..

try to check the disk management under computer management tool.. im thinking that the hardware has no assigned drive letter only.

sana naman hindi pa busted drive. hehe. wala pa pambili ngayon.

*kinyo, masubukan nga yan. tutal out of warranty na rin naman ung unit.

*akosiempoy, feeling ko software issue since bago pumasok ng windows may power pa siya(ie. nasa loob ng bios). will try to do ung sinabi mo. but if that's the issue dapat somehow may power pa rin siya diba? example pag binuksan ung open dapat bubukas pa rin siya.

    thanks

Most probably, hindi sira yan. It's an issue with Vista (and Win7).

Was your SATA controller set to ACHI? Your OD is IDE?

Anyway, I just fix the registry manually for this but here's the automated version:

    Good luck

*horsepower, thanks. masubukan nga yan. wala pa lang akong time para ayusin eh. hehe

*malinkelly, try ko muna dito baka ma resolve. pag no choice na talaga saka ko dalin sa store. or pag nabwisit ako since puro virus yung laptop nung huling nag scan ako eh baka ireformat ko na lang.

    thanks.
