3G question

i'm currently looking for a phone that will work here/Asia and the US/Canada; what specs should i look out for? afaik most parts of asia use 2100, while US/Canada is mostly 1900.

Do i need to look for a unit that supports 1900/2100? Will 850/2100 work? tia

So far my phone is a Nokia N80:

It works in the US, Australia, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and Guam.

Based on what i've seen, most 3G phones usually do UMTS850/1900(US versions) or 2100( most parts of the world).

If your phone was 850 and 2100 ... then your phone will use 850 to connect if you are in the USA. Of course, that depends if there is a service provider using 850 in the area you are visiting in the USA.
