    techie experts need your help.

SPOOLS.EXE, it can be seen in the task manager/processes when you press ctrl+alt+del. what it does is use up 100% of cpu so that your computer runs very slow. you cant do anything else.

first encountered this back in 2004 and i ended up reformatting my laptop because our IT department cant solve it. i encountered again the same problem a couple of years ago with a different name this time, SVCHOST.EXE. reformat my laptop again.

now, i have the same problem, its the svchost.exe again, avg and windows defender cant detect it. is there a way to kill this without reformatting my laptop? its a real pain in the ass!

my laptop is running on genuine windows home xp.

ah i think i can help you pero di sure, yung spools.exe na yun kailangan talaga para magrun yung windos, yan kasi yung processes ng mga print jobs, first try ninyo check yung print and fax documents ninyo sa control panel and cancel all pending print jobs. yan yung first solution at babalik sa normal yung pc mo assuming na hindi nakapasok ang virus through backdoor using the name spools.exe. pero kapag nagcoconsume na siya ng almost 90% ng memory usage mo, chances are virus/trojans/etc. na nga yan. so try my first suggestion then pag di bumalik sa normal, use avg or any anti-virus/spyware/adware programs na meron ka..

by the way did it try to connect to the internet, i mean yung spools.exe mo tapaos na block lang ng windows firewall?

hindi na block ng firewall eh nagra run talaga sya. did some search ang its a required windows program (svchost and spools), kaya siguro, hindi identified as virus, which is why avg and defender cannot detect it. kaya lang there is some sort of worm that attaches to it causing it to use up 100% of cpu.

ngayon my lappy is running fine, i just disconnected the internet cable and restarted the computer.

    observe observe muna uli.

    AFAIK,

If it's spools.exe, then trojan yan.

    If it's spoolsv.exe, then it's a legitimate windows program.

svchost.exe is also an authentic windows program, but it can be used to run malware.

    +1,
nakalimutan ko imention yung nasabi niya, and most probably this is a hacker trying to get info from your computer kaya tama din yung spysweeper na namention above.

download spysweeper ,superantispyware and adware se. Google mo lang yang 3 then DL. kill mo lahat ng processes na mataas yung cpu usage. ex:

    1. kill /f /im appname.exe
    2. kill /f /pid appid
then do a scan. remove all nyahahahah.

ang naencounter ko ay "sysdll.exe" tried to remove it but after several minutes naandoon na naman, try ko yung anti virus pero hindi naman siya madetect, nagload ako ng MP3 song sa mp3 player pati ito nagkaroon, try kong delete na wala naman, pero pagbalik ko sa computer to charge ang mp3 player meron nanamn naka load dito, since pabalik balik siya suspect ko virus ito. mahinangklase siguro itong anti virus dito sa office "e-trust" hindi maka detect.
