Because it looks better, is more efficient, and is cheaper (surprisingly the inverter split is cheaper than the inverter window).
Like I said, if it needs repairs/maintenance once a year, then that's one day of hassle. The remaining 364 days, I get to enjoy my better looking room and enjoy my electricity savings.

During the time the LG compressor went kaput, downtime was 3 weeks.
Main problem ng split type is workmanship. Yung fittings madalas nagkakaleak ang nauubos right after the 3 month install warranty. Those flarws also act up sometimes. You dont encounter these problems with wondow types.
Im planning to replace the split type with window.

Even assuming 3 weeks, it's not that big a deal since I don't need the aircon all the time. 49 weeks of better looking and more efficient operation still sounds like a good tradeoff.
And that's also why I want to get a higher quality aircon - to avoid breakdowns in the first place. My National aircon in my room hasn't needed any repairs since it was installed 3 yrs ago, and the aircon is 20 yrs old and has moved 3 houses.

Keys to splits are to have the least number of seams, have oversized drains & the shortest possible route from indoor to outdoor. Those are where leaks pop 1st.
Ironic how the love for window usually develops from the hate for splits....Love at 1st sight or sound can be shortlived.[emoji852]

Jut, meron yun aux A/C na china brand. 8 years warranty for compressor and 5 years for parts. Check mo kung how much price, nag offer lang yun nag cleaning sa akin the other day.
As with everything you have to find a good and honest na company na mag install saka mag maintain.
As for brand. For mee pare-pareho na lahat yan. We have one Panasonic 15 years na yata non inverter, napalitan na ng compressor for 8k+ siguro all in mas mura pa kung ako mismo bibili ng compressor but i opted na yun installer ko na lang bumili dahil meron warranty. Original and brand new naman

Mitsubishi at carrier. Mas ok un Mitsubishi. Mas tahimik un outdoor unit. Tsaka wala din nasisira. Parehong 10hrs a day kung paandarin.

Daikin is big in Japan. Galing Japan ba yung Daikin satin?

The nice looking Panasonic window type inverter doesn't fit my pre-cut enclosure. 500mm cutout vs 560mm width for the Panasonic. The Hitachi fits but looks hideous.
Tapos magkalikod lang talaga yung split type and condenser so very very short tubings, so less chances of leaks. Really leaning towards split type now.
Just deciding on the brand. Will visit a store later, eto prices nila online (free installation):
LG - 27k
Panasonic - 29k
Daikin - 30.5k

my colleague had house originally split-airconed.
had to destroy part of the wall after a few years, as they had to look for the leak. the straight, un-coupled tubings were (belatedly bad decisionedly) embedded inside the wall, about a dozen feet or so. the other half of the split was just outside the wall, sitting on the terrace.
window type na siya ngayon.

Oh, laminates. ...Careful w/ spills. They can bloat. Have you seen how service guys clean splits? They protect the wall with a sheet of plastic curtain that funnels onto a pail. That's the collector for the water they spray onto the indoor unit. Accidental spills aren't uncommon. And, should the unit leak, expect the floor to be collateral damage. Just pay a lil extra attention.
All that said, if you're still leaning split, stay w/ Daikin; limit your weld seams to 2, if possible; line an oversized properly sloped drain; insulate well & do not embed em lines. Oh, ideally no fixed mounted appliances under the wall unit....And don't ever go cassette....You should be ok. If you fear the hassle, you can cut the journey & go Hitachi window....that's a well rated one.[emoji4]

I just have my maid stand under with mop on hands swipe whatever water that might drop during cleaning aside from putting floor Matt all over the place during cleaning.
And besides they are pourinf water to test the drain after everything's said and done to check if they have attached the drain to the drain line.
Back to back lang nga installation kay Jut ano pa ba dapat embed sa ganun installation?
Back to back is the easiest and most common installation for split type.
Jut, go for the spkit type.

Comparison of my shortlist of aircons:
Taas ng EER ng Daikin FTKV, but using Meralco's app to compute (wattage lang ang input) based on my usage, it'll take 6.5 years para mabawi yung cost vs. the entry-level Panasonic.
Was already inclined to get the Daikin FTKV until I computed for the very long payback period.
