Guys do you know where i can have my powershot A 560 repaired aside from Canon service center, nabasa kasi siya sa bag ko yung digicam inabutan ako ng malakas na ulan habang nagmomotor ako,

nag research ako about Canon Service center and they have good reviews kaya I have my hopes high na magagawa yung digicam ko kasi nag power up pa naman siya tsaka nag display pa yung LCD, pagdating ko ng Canon they are charging me 15 thousand for the repair of 3 parts samantalang 11 thou lang ang bili ko sa digicam ko and for 10 thousand I can buy the new 8megapixel A590IS,

Can you imagine having a service center like that, Can you imagine Honda, Toyota and the likes practicing their business like that pag nasira ang tsikot mo na 1M sisingilin ka ng P1.5 million to have it repaired

short of telling you na canon digicams are disposable. got mine with extended 2-yr warranty. na-sales talk kasi ako na covered daw in case raw mabasa o ma-drop, though, wala pa namang problema sa unit ko so far.

Personally, extended warranties on electronics is a waste of money.

Kung hindi siya covered by warranty, just buy a new one, preferably yung waterproof. Once na mabasa kasi loob niyan, kahit anong electronic device, unreliable na siya. The service center will just end up making a full overhaul on the camera and you'll definitely be spending more than its actually worth.

buy a new camera - get a waterproof one or keep it in waterproof bag next time when you go out riding.

Yup sa Marvin Plaza Bldg na Service center ko siya dinala, nag leave pa ako from my work in Laguna, parang gusto kong magwala nung malaman kong ganun ang pricing, I also though that the most expensive part of the camera is the lens, eh hindi naman sira yung lens, 3 electronic parts ang sira na tig 5thousand ang isa, its just like saying na junk na yung camera pag nasira after the warranty period,

ganun din ba ang Sony tsk tsk sayang cybershot pa naman sana tinitignan ko ngayon, gusto ko sana yung A590IS kaso pag ganyan ang sistema I'm looking for my alternatives

yup I will look for a waterproof case next time, nahirapan kasi akong maghanap ng waterproof na backpack maski sa mga mountaineering na store sa mga mall

Actually, Canon digital cameras are overpriced in the Philippines. You can go to USA, Hong Kong or even in Singapore and find the prices much lower. Even online stores are selling those cameras much cheaper, as much as 40% lower than what is found locally.

    Solution, buy it abroad.

kung out of warranty na better buy a new one. yung unit ko dati dinala ko sa canon marvin plaza due to a model recall, pinalitan naman nila ng bago with higher MP and adjustable view finder. ok naman ang canon siguro napuruhan lang talaga yung unit mo ng tubig. so far yung replacement nila sa akin wala naman problema.

I recently got a canon camera from best buy sa u.s. I found out later (at least with the model I bought) that the ones being sold online here are more expensive by only around 15%, but some of the items come with local warranty.

Depends on the "timing" and if that particular model is already old or new.

Back when I bought my Canon digcam, it was being sold for around P13K but abroad it was only P9K.

Best suggestion: buy one of those waterproof and shockproof models. My sis-in-law has one and she even took it underwater to shoot some pictures.

Check out the Olympus waterproof camera models. I owned one before. Thought the images weren't that good, but it does have water and shock proof protection. I went snorkelling with it and accidentally dropped the cam from my pocket to the concrete floor. It just received a small 'ding' on the body, w/c is not so obvious.

Digital cameras are electronic items with glass parts unlike the film cameras which were largely mechanical. Any circuit board that gets wet is not easily repairable some of the circuits will experience a short circuit as water is a conductor.

bili ka na lng ng bago, bro. . .personally, i have preference for the canon brand (my digi cam, dvd handy cam, printer, scanner are all canon ) because of the quality and their after-sales service. . .

this case is not a bad after-sales service, electronic gadgets are more like disposable items nowadays. . .other electronic gadget makers may have the same policy, too. . .

take their advice, get a waterproof olympus or pentax. . .
