When I was there last month I tried using my Motorola E1000, a 3G phone, to browse the internet using a Smart SIM. Although the area I was in at the time had a 3G signal, I wasn't able to access the internet. Tinawag ko yung Smart Customer Service, but they said that only certain 3G phones are fully supported by their 3G network.

Ok naman ang speed ng Smart 3G when i connected it to my laptop not browsing though but by downloading emails only. For me kasi, parang d malinaw yung published rates nila eh.

This is a good back-up to have! Very unreliable kasi ang SMART WIFI Connection!

    mmm, check you cellphone's manual?

usually, meron 2 cameras ang mga 3G phones. one in front and another at the back.

you can also search for your phone model in the internet and see if it is a 3G phone.

or you may call the customer service of your telecom provider and ask them if your phone is 3G capable.

Check the phone manual under Data Access or Network. It would also indicate there if your phone is HSPDA ready.

NOTE: 3GP is not 3G. I've received lotsa inquiries from friends and colleageas asking me why their 3GP-capable phone is not able to connect using 3G. As most of you know, 3GP is a video format that is commonly used for today's modern, video capable cell phones.

parang nakita ko sa newspaper ads ng mga telcos. flat rate for 30min is P10 or P20.

mukhang mas mura kesa P0.15/kb ng GPRS.

May promo Smart ngayon. P 10 na lang ang GPRS browsing for the 1st 30mins. Dun sa suceeding 30, P 10 na rin. Pero same rate applies for downloads (P 0.25/kb). Kung nasa Smart wap site lang ang nagbo-browse, walang bayad.
