weeks ago, I read an article that pldt will launch this year its own satellite broadcast to compete with dream broadcasting.

in talks daw pldt with direct tv (US), wow ok sana ito kung may HD channels ng ESPN and NBA, better movies than HBO/star movies...

pricing will be at par with skycable.. hence skycable signal will need a receiver per tv set, malamang pag maganda program ng pldt sat.. dito na ako!

    Parecoi,

Dream tv is available everywhere. buy the decoder and sat dish (syempre pati subscription hehehe) then point it to the correct angle and get the transmission.

no competition here. dream satellite is owned by the cojuangco's, while pldt is oh well, influenced by the same group.

You have to be under the line of sight of the satellite to receive a signal from any satellite. PLDT's service will probably be as expensive sa Dream. I also read that Tonyboy C. (stockholder of PLDT and Dream) was invited to merge with the PLDT/Echostar partnership. I hope they bring in US HD (high definition) programing. That would pretty much warrant the extra price of subscring to satellite against much cheaper cable.

di ba yung line of sight of satellite can cover an area as wide as the whole ASEAN region?

Tama si theveed satellites are only ideal if your area isnt serviced by cable or if you're really particular about your TV viewing.

line of sight means exactly that, straight line from satelite to the satelite dish. pag may building ka na katabi blocking that line, or even high voltage wires blocking that line of sight you will need to relocate your dish.

after din ng storm pag hindi maganda kabit ng dish mo you will need to reposition the dish. konting misalignment lang yan snow na lang makikita mo, or some message saying "no signal error, align your sat dish..." then you will need a pair of 2-way radios, one for you on the roof and another for the one watching the tv, at mapapaos kayo kakasigaw ng instructions like "ayan lapit na, naku nawala! balik mo balik!..."

dadami papakabit ng ernie baron antennae he he he

That's good part of the bill we pay to the cable operators cover the illegal connection.

    What's a ernie baron antenna?
