We have an inverter refrigerator that we bought over a year ago. Just today the ref stopped working but the bottom freezer is just fine. It is unbelievable that it started having problems so early! I used to be so happy with the Panasonic brand Our smaller Panasonic ref is over 20 years old and it's working perfectly.

Can someone please help me troubleshoot? I think our refrigerator is out of warranty now. I chose this refrigerator and I don't wanna hear any side comments from my family that my choice was palpak

As you said you bought it over a year ago. If memory serves me right, 5 year warranty yung compressor and motor.

Look for the receipt, call the service center, and your set.

I assume that your fridge is a no-frost one. In our office, one time, only the freezer was the only cold part ng refrigerator so ang ginawa ng office boy was he turned-off the fridge overnight then the following day after swithing it back.on, lumamig na pati chiller nya.

The freezer air vents might have been inadvertently covered, causing ice buildup. Defrost your freezer as above suggested.

Probably designed the same way ours is. Blockage sa vents yan, usually ice. Defrost lang.

Thanks everyone! It worked. Turned off the ref and saw a solid block of ice on the compartment. We emptied the ref and made sure that no ice was left before turning it back on!

It happened again, nawalan ng lamig but this time even the bottom freezer has an issue, may lamig pa rin but not like the ref na wala na talagang lamig. I don't want anyone to go inside our home but it looks like I have no choice this time

Has anyone tried calling the Panasonic service center or should I just google for the nearest authorized service center?

    give them a call.
that way, you are sure that a human took your order.

i call for service, my independent fix-er to fix my ref that has been out of warranty for over 15 years now.

a common cause of non-cooling, is freon lack.

Is your ref, a single door type, with the freezer at the top? These types I think get their cold from the freezer, so if it's iced over, then this function is blocked. Sana nga makuha sa defrost. What I do when we had this type was turn it off at night when the ice gets thick, for regular defrosting

    "frost-free" models are nice,
but i believe they consume more electricity.

no but I will do that later nga

Mukhang may bara nga kasi after I defrosted at natanggal yung visible na block of ice e lumamig na yung freezer pero yung ref mahinang mahina pa rin

Tuluyan ng nawalan ng lamig. I called the Panasonic hotline and our schedule is on Saturday pa

Isn't 9 yrs too early for a ref to have issues? We have an almost 30 yr old ref that never had issues

9 years old? Sulit na yan, buy a new one na lang, it's hard to compare that with the vintage ones, hindi pa siguro uso ang planned obsolocence nuon. Hirap sa ganyan katanda, if maayos man, baka a few months later may iba na naman problem or hindi tumagal ung repair, it's a gamble I wouldn't take, mabuti kung 2k pababa lang repair, pwede siguro.

I think it's only the compressor that's covered by the 10-year warranty.

Panasonic repair guys came in today. They said the problem with our ref was it was not defrosting that is why the cold won't go up (bottom freezer) They said the fan and sensor are not working but after they replaced this small wire that got short, the fan started working again. They told me to observe because they are not sure if the fan is defective already.

They charged P1500 for labor and cleaning. I asked them in case the fan and sensor are busted nga, the parts will cost more or less P6000. I suppose I will pay labor again so that is a total of P7500! Add pa what we paid for today so that's P9000

It was already cold when they left this afternoon but when I checked this evening it was not cold na naman I am very very disappointed that this ref is only 9 yrs old. The technician said though that this is sulit already but our National ref is almost 30 yrs old and never had any problems

I am contemplating on replacing it but most of the refs now are so big! The height won't fit the area where we place our ref and I don't want to have to baklas a cabinet for that. I feel like crying because this is the first time since the pandemic that I let people inside our home (no choice because the ref is in the kitchen) I risked getting covid to have this ref repaired! I had to soap the kitchen floor when they left, I was so tired! Now I have to do it again if they need to repair

I think I will get an LG this time. Samsung is cheaper but I read here that it has bad reviews? I am thinking nga since refs now are disposable then I will just get a regular 2 door ref (no more bottom!) My minimum is 14.5 cu ft. I was thinking of getting a 24 cu ft side by side pero yun height nga ang problem at sayang ang P60k kung masira in 10 yrs

Now I don't know if I should repair or replace, laking difference naman ng 9k sa 35k hehe

    give it one more try.
invite the panasonic folks again, and see what's wrong, this time.
if the cost of repair again is prohibitive, then buy a new one.

when we replaced our old ref with the so-called new gen, we had to cut away the wooden shelf above it, so's the new model would fit.
instead of putting things on that shelf, we now put things on the ref itself.
the arrangement may not win a beauty contest, but it works fine.
