so it's the windows os then, kitang-kita sa task manager cpu usage graph, shoot up to 90 to 100% parati. i've used both a centrino dell and a P4 desktop.

Right now, I'm on Vista RC1. It can't get anymore resource-hungry. I have 2 simultaneous downloads: one with Limewire, the other with u*******. AVG is also doing a simultaneous deep scan of the pc. Paintshop Pro is also open in addition to this browser.

Yet no slowdowns like you had. My Task Manager:

I'd say what problems you had was unique to your pc.

Add: Once AVG got done with its scan, cpu usage dropped to 1-4% with the d/l continuing.

I forgot to mention that I also have Windows Defender running in the background in realtime mode. So, I don't know. I've had Limewire running 4-5 simultaneous downloads (mostly **** stuff), several 100+ mb podcast *******s though ********/u*******, plus Wndows Defender or AVG doing their thing, Ad Aware and Spybot: Search and Destroy scanning in tandem plus surfing here, watching Star Trek Divx and dvd movies.........This computer barely shows any dragging performance under XP Home.....

Maybe having the page file permanent at a separate hard drive from XP have a lot to do with it.

OT#1: No wonder! Your system is on the high-end side. I'm sure , it can handle just about anything you throw at it.

    OT#2

I recently replaced my P4 3.0 E Ghz "presshot" to a AMD 64 3200+, after its motherboard conked out and the stores here ran out of socket 478 MBs. One thing, I noticed about my AMD is that it does not like multi-tasking (even with 2GB of Corsair DDR 400). Also when I play DiVx video clips, sometimes there is a slight pause (cpu usage spikes). This is something I dont see in my old 3.0E ghz P4. Funny.

I haven't kept up on cpu specs. But, didn't the P4 3.0E have heperthreading? That helped a lot. The P4 has always been strong when it came to multimedia stuff. AMD Athlon64's were better in gaming. But, the difference in framerates was more than made up for by the type of video card.

I assembled my pc back in July of 2005 when the AMD dualcores were the top cpu's. It's been almost a year and half and I'm still very happy with my pc.

Again, a lot of what makes XP happy, in my opinion, is having the page file at a separate hard drive from the OS. It also just happens that the 250GB hard drive with the pagefile is the fastest drive in my pc.

How high do you let your share ratio get before you stop seeding? I usually stop seeding when my share ratio reaches 2 is this ok?

hey... i'm using ******* right now although i also tried bittorent (same results). i have a 756KBps dsl connection. first time ko to deal with ******* files...

average DL speed ko is about 10-15KBps lang even if i'm not running any other programs. i'm not sure about my pc's specs, but i'm sure that it can keep up pretty well even if most of the programs are running at the same time. is it the software (*******) and is there something that i can do about it? thanks!

Ilan ba peers and seeders mo? Even if you're on a fast connection, if the people you're downloading from are slow or kokonti lang sila, mabagal pa rin.

last time i checked, 9(18) seeds, 39(93) peers. what do seeds and peers mean? i got the ******* file from ************ - does the site where i get the ******* file also affect the downloading or are they all the same regardless of where i got the file? if it does, which site/s do you recommend?

Peers are participants who don't have the complete file, like you. Seeders do.

I'm not sure what the number in () means, I use a different BT client. Try poking around in your client's options/settings, on download and upload rates maybe. Sorry, can't tell you what to look for, I'm not familiar with the program you're using. Hopefully, others are.

It shouldn't matter where you got the *.bit******* file if it's the same file and points to the same tracker. How large is the file? How far along is your download? Generally, BT downloads start slow, then progressively get faster, then tapers off again bago matapos.
