Protecting your appliance from power surges

and pwede ba sila mag survey muna dito sa bahay tingnan lahat yun mga appliances para malamn ko kung ilang volts dapat...we have 5 a/c's maglalagay pa ako ng additional isang a/c sa family room..plus yun other appliances pa...kaya sana tingnan muna nila...

ilang volts? di naman po nagbabago ang supply volts na kailangan para sa mga appliances natin...kahit gano karami pa yan...sa pilipinas naglalaro po yan sa 200~240VAC. pag tumaas po jan yan na po yun mga surges na iniiwasan natin...baka po ang ibig nyo sabihin e yun power o current rating...if you want to make sure na maprotektahan yun mga gamit nyo dapat above 240V di na palalampaisn ng surge protector nyo...at dapat mabilis ang response time...

invested in a TVSS (transient voltage surge supressor) which protects the whole house na. concern ko rin kasi yung computer, yung TV (eh plasma pa...) tsaka yung mga aircons namin.

I suggest you buy a transient eliminator instead of buying individual surge protector per major appliances. This will definitely control all excess voltage coming thru the main panel.It is directly installed to the line side.While for the grounding, adding a grounding on your laptop will only do you good if your electrical system is really equipped with grounding.

ref - power on delay, 300 petot lang sa ace hardware
pc - a dependable ups, don't go for the cheap brands
TIP: get a bigger ups for your pc, say 700va and above then gawan
mo extension. dun mo isaksak small appliances without motors or
heating elements (cellphone, radio, tv, etc) basta wag lalampas
sa rated wattage. Di pwede motorized apps (electric fan, ref, etc)
aircon - timer and power on delay, 1,000 - 2500 sa ace hardware

I also tried yung power conditioners na nasa infomercials, so far naging long lasting yun mga lightbulbs ko sa bahay.

Bakit hindi pwede ang motorized appliances sa UPS? Ganyan kasi ginagawa ko pag nagbrownout dito ng gabi para mabilis makatulog mga anak ko.

Afaik, iba ang pino-produce na kuryente ng UPS. Forgot the term, too geeky eh.. sine waves something hehehe..
