program to convert .avi, .mpeg, etc. to .mp4

Any program that'll convert to iPod mp4 should work. I use DVDVideoSoft Video to iPod Converter which can convert YouTube videos to mp4. It doesn't matter if you use mp4 for iPod. It'll work anyway with the PSP. Videos that play in my kid's (video-capable) iPod Nano also play fine in my PSP. I like it because it's quite fast.

Another program I use is Videora for iPod. It can convert with smaller file sizes. But, you do need the MS .Net framework installed first.

A third app I use is Yamb which is useful for stitching together converted YouTube files that come is several parts.
