Case in point: at the mall yesterday, I was calling my wife on the cell phone. Kept ringing but no answer. very frustrating.

Anyway if always-on voice is the goal, using Discord then having your active group join a Voice Channel should do the trick without the need for any new devices.

Usually Discord is used for voice chat during gaming so it has same functionality as a basic feature, with added options for text and/or video.

Agree, discord din gamit namin especially kapag nasa convoy or while riding our bicycles. Cardo kapag nasa motorcycle.

Understand what you mean but ... if she can't hear the ringing ... she won't hear the radio either ... besides, most won't be comfortable lugging around another device ... given that some people already being 2 mobile phones ...

As mentioned above ... smartwatch is the solution ... or smart glasses ... or bring separate cars ...
