    Hello guys!

Alam niyo ba kung saan maganda (at mura, opkors!) magpamodify ng PS2 Slimline (di ko alam yung model #, it hasn't arrived yet)? Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry but I can't remember the exact amount anymore but it's between 1,200 and 1,700 but definitely not higher than 1,700. they also give you tips on how to take good care of your ps2 and what kind or color of disc is better or something to that effect. I really can't remember anymore, I'll have to ask my son about it.
    But I hope it helps.

Dun ke Eyo sa greenhills ako nagpapa modify. pero ang alam ko eh medyo mahal pag slim type ps2 saka depende sa model. normally, pinaka mura ay yung US model. Last time i heard ay nasa 3k+ pag slim eh.. kasi pag yung old model ay 1,200 lang pa modify. me nilalagay pa kase silang lens protector dyan sa slim type.

since we are talking about modifications, is doing that safe? and usually, ano-ano mga minomodify? and how long will the lens last? is it only good for one year or two?

yung PS2 namin na slimline din, i got it from the US. tapos hindi ko pa pinapamodify so puro original games lahat ang tinatanggap (which i also get from the US via the Electronics Depot route tapos shiniship lang sa akin ng sister ko who is in NY). i am afraid kasi na once if i had it modified, for one, mawawala yung warranty (it's only 8 months old), tapos magiging sirain na.

    tama ba?

It lets you play games from any region. A standard japan ps2 unit will not play games from the USA and vice versa.

speaking of playstations...Singit lang: Pansin ko lang yung sa akin pag nag load yung playstation na logo it's black on a white square background. Pag sa iba kong kakilala it's white on a black background. Tanong: normal lang ba yun?

The shop who modifies your PS2 installs a "mod-chip" into your PS2 to modify its operating system to accept games from any region. Some mod-chips also give the PS2 to ability boot up into a harddisk without a CD boot disk (for harddisk equipted PS2 units). The harddisk contains the copies of games so no need to load from CD anymore.

and how long will the lens last? is it only good for one year or two?
depends. Some PS2 lenses last only six months which others are still running like new after two years of nearly daily use.

yung PS2 namin na slimline din, i got it from the US. tapos hindi ko pa pinapamodify so puro original games lahat ang tinatanggap (which i also get from the US via the Electronics Depot route tapos shiniship lang sa akin ng sister ko who is in NY). i am afraid kasi na once if i had it modified, for one, mawawala yung warranty (it's only 8 months old), tapos magiging sirain na.
like I mentioned above, the laser lens has a "limited life" and seems it can be predicted by the "series number". The series number is based on the unit's serial number.

Example: serial number 5012345677 means its a series "50" unit. From what I heard, the series 50 units have very durable lenses.

If you are worried about damaging your PS2, then you don't modify your PS2. But if you want to play those very affordable pirated PS2 games, you'll need to have your PS2 modded.

I suggest the shop named EYO located at the 3rd floor Virra Mall in Greenhills.

well, there is those kinds of mods... clear case or clear colored case for PS2.

Also available is the hard disk mod for classic style PS2 units. You can have your games copied to the harddisk giving you faster loading time and no more clutter of CDs around the PS2 unit. It also saves the life of the lens.

Sir, unfortunately, I'm one of those you mentioned having modified my PS2 Slim Type and after a few months, replaced my lens for 4.5K....after a few months again, my unit's not working anymore....

I'd like to try the mod you mentioned of having a harddisk and not using the lens... as you mentioned, thats for classic units. Would it be possible for slim units? If so, has EYO or any shop done it already?

    TIA Sir.....

For using a harddisk with a PS2 slim, I am not sure if its even possible. BUT one of the people at EYO did mention that it might be possible to use a harddisk with a USB to IDE adapter but the loading time will be slower.

My suggestion would be to get a 2nd hand classic (thick) PS2 unit and upgrade it with a hard disk and boot CD setup.

I think my PS2 is a V14, which should be the most reliable of the slimlines. BTW, what's the warranty that EYO usually gives?

    Thanks for all the help!
