yes if you get one of those epsons that can load a "bottomless ink" system or "continuous ink system"
i have an R210 epson with the bottomless ink system. the system is a bit high in acquisition cost (about P4500) but the ink cost per unit run (full color) is less than a peso per page. so the real cost would be more on the paper you're going to use.
a generic photo paper (I use a brand called ELIT - available from most national bookstore) will do good picture print-outs...i'm not sure about fading in the future.
overall, if I am not a PRO photographer and trying to learn a few skills in digital editing....I'd go for it.
i think less than P7.00 nalang per 4R sa mga kodak/konica/fuji centers. mas ok pa ang print quality.
Yes if you like printing large prints (8R up) tapos pa-isa-isa lang... No if regular 3-5R prints...
Also, you'll need to calibrate your printer, your monitor and your inks (making sure they're the right shade if you're not using OEM inks), otherwise, kung ano-ano kulay lalabas, sayang pera.
other question...
ano magandang software and saan makakabili ito (yun mura lang) yun pwedeng iconvert yun mga pic file to vcd/dvd fomat
Nero, free lang and usually ito yung bundled software sa mga CD/DVD Writers.
I haven't gone into digital movies....dvd have plenty of version (codecs) so hindi pa gaano ito stable. VCD is often an mpeg variant...I am not sure what would be the best software though.
On digital print-out (pictures) I highly recommend ADOBE PHOTOSHOP.
Kung familiar ka sa "calibration" ng Adobe Photoshop, the problem on calibrating the monitor/screen with the print-out is already solved.
High-end equipments are expensive and not practical for a hobbyist. I go for low to medium end equipments - your video cam is near entry level (?) so I'd say go for the low to medium end equipments. Kung merun firewire yan to transfer to a computer solve ka na.
Medium end equipments - a fast computer (I have 2 computers which I use in digital editing and they both work well - a duo core laptop with 1.5Gig RAM and an pc with AMD athlon 64 3.0Ghz(?) with 2Gig RAM. I use Adobe Photoshop CS. Epson R210 for my prints and generic photopaper.
I use a Kodak Easyshare 4" x 6" photo printer. No messy inks. It uses dye sub rolls which yields glossy (waterproof, stain-resistant) prints indistinguishable from those made from photo centers.
I can't remember how much the printer is. But, refills are $46 for the dye sub rolls and 160 pieces of 4" x 6" printer paper. That amounts to 29 cents per picture. That may sound expensive over there. Here, it's quite cheap...

USD0.29 is equivalent to Php15.00. mahal nga, dun ka nalang sa mga photo processing centers.
Normally, those functions are built-in with many video-editing apps. There are freeware/open-source apps that does what you need. But, I'll have to look them up. For commercial apps, there's iPhoto on the Mac. On the pc, there's a whole host of apps for making vcd/dvd slideshows. Among my favorites is Ulead DVD Pictureshow. You can d/l a trial version and see if it fits your needs.

I can't vouch for this because I haven't used it. But this one is free.

inkjet photo printers are useless. pictures dont last long, unlike yun mga printed sa mga photolabs. sa kodak 50 - 100 years kahit na expose sa sunlight or water. di'ba yun naman use ng photos, for lasting memories.
the kodak photo printer is actually good kaya lang very expensive per print.
Lexmark manufactures the Printers for Kodak.
im not sure about their dye sublimation printers though.
Also 100 pictures/mo...... Bulk loads like that are best handled by photo centers. They may also offer deals and discounts for a certain number of pictures printed.
Prices have gone down here too. Walmart prints 4" x 6" pictures at 12 cents apiece while some online sites have a rate of 10 cents a picture.
for me, hindi po, mas cheaper pa pa-develop. 4R nakukuha ko ng 5.50 each. matt paper
