No need to talk about the prices kasi 'di ko naman 'to babayaran upfront. "nakasingit" na yung bayad ng alin mang pipiliin ko sa monthly ko. :-P

Some of my initial thoughts:

Dopod 838 Pro - medyo kahawig sya ng O2 XDAIIs ko dati albeit the sideways sliding keyboard, Win Mobile OS and the usual Mobile Office software na mas prefer ko over Nokia's.

Nga lang medyo kailangan ng panibagong pagsasanay sa Nokia't last kong Nokia was 6250 pa way-way back. Malamang makakapanibago ito for a SE P9xx series and O2 XDA IIs user for the past 6++ years.

Available nga ba yung module sa 'Pinas? and any more details regarding this module (apart from the ones available from the site already) especially sa position output string format nya. And speaking of accessories, available din ba yung wireless keyboard and yung mga wireless car kits na applicable sa mga phones sa list sa 'Pinas?

N93i - based sa nakikita ko dun sa specsheet nya, ang lamang nya lang over sa N95 e yung built-in video editing software.

Features na hinahanap ko: could act as my "pc" kung "di pwedeng" ilabas yung laptop* ko--i.e. dun na lang muna ako magbabasa/sulat gawa ng mga say, reports, etc. Not much into the camera features since my digicam naman ako, pero the digicam feature would come in handy just incase tamarin akong bitbibitbitin yung bulky na DSC-V3. the videocam might come in handy too kung mas maganda pa output nya sa DSC-V3. wireless connectivity features from wifi, bluetooth to ir. memory expansion and definitely kailangan pwede sya sa Korea, Japan and similar countries should the need arise. Added bonus kung madali s'yang ipa-openline just maisipan kong isang CP na lang ang dalhin and di na magdala ng 1 pang open-line cp para sa local SIMs.

TIA.

PS: yung 40k free credits na lang kaya... para parang 'di muna ako magbabayad ng monthly for the next couple of months (kung tama pagkakaintindi ko. hehe)

*for any reason

If you don't really need a new phone, just get the Nokia package and sell them only if the bottomline figure is higher than the Php40k credits to your plan. My two cents po.

hmm... the words "don't really need" caught my attention. I guess I really don't even need to avail of the early retention program* too. hehe. I mean syempre, pag grinab ko 'to back to 0months ako for the next 24-mo duration ng contract. hehe. nice one russ. thanks.
and dun sa last statement mo, ibig mo ba sabihin e kung mabebenta ko yung phones (for 2phone packages) ng mas mahal sa 40k? 'tong mga packages for this program kasi are usually ~40k na according sa telco's pricelist for non-subscription phones. pero that's a thought din, selling them instead.
thanks.
*di ko maalala at this moment yung term nila dito e, pero parang retention pa rin though this is kung kunwari nakagastos ka sa kanila ng certain amount of bills for a year -- way before your 18mos retention for a 24mo contract.

Just a note for Nokia's QuickOffice. You can open and read documents and speadsheets but cannot edit them nor create new ones.

I have a Nokia N80 and I think the N95 uses the same apps.

Tama sir. Once you avail of this, your subscription will be locked for another 2 years. Tama ka sir. If you can sell the phones for more than the amount that your carrier is giving you, sell the phones. If not, get the credits.

Normally when we avail of a phone, here's how I do it:
Scenario: Globe offered a free Nokia N70 * Plan 800 for two years last October 2005.
What I would do: I multiply Php800 by 24 months, so that's Php19,200 total. Retail price for the phone at that time, Php20k. Therefore, I see the situtation as I will spend Php19,200 for the next 24 months and actually gained a free phone and Php800! Not bad!
*BTW, corporate plan po ito sir.

If you are satisfied with your current mobile phone, I suggest get the 40K credit.

Example, I have a N80 and I would like to have a N95 but the basic different between the two are the GPS, 5MP camera and the 3.5mm headphone plug. (Actually there is a bit more but purchasable software can make up for those.)

I rarely would need the GPS, it would be a toy function than a serious aid. The 5MP camera will still NOT out-do my dedicated 7mp digital camera's image sharpness and shotting flexibility. And as for the 3.5mm plug, there is a pop-port adapter for a 3.5mm headphone jack.

So its more of a "want" vs a "need". I want a new high tech cellphone but I don't really need it since the N80 is high tech enough for my needs and more.

Id go for the 40k credits, nokia n95 will be releasing a new edition, all black which will be having an 8gb internal memory.. here in singapore, n95 sells for 945 sgd no line as forex rate is 1sgd is 29.04php so more or less 27500 php cya and the 6070 is around 160sgd so mga 4600 php total is 32100php may 7900 php ka pa na savings :P di ko lang po alam kung pareho price ng mga fone na yan jan sa atin

Current model N95 sells for P31K at its cheapest as far I can find.

I would wait for the new model IF i was going to buy a new N95.
Hmmm, maybe I could ask my friend who is sked to go to singapore in a month?

*ghosthunter - medyo "pageexperimentuhan" ko sana yung gps module nya e. though I know sold separately 'yun. then see how it fares compared to our positioning system at work. but I guess kung yung 40k credit means i don't have to pay 'em for the next x no. of mos. then bili na lang ako ng cheap na "consumer" gps para pagexperimentuhan**. hehe.

*fedex - generally mas mura dyan*. and ang maganda, AFAIK, lahat sila open line. kakaasar nga lang bumili ng bago dyan na di pa released sa pinas at baka di susuportahan ng mga local telcos. yung Dopod nung bagong release diyan sa Sg at My, gusto ko na shootin nun kaso wala pa support yung telco ko. and at the same time ang offer naman nila for retention nuon e P990i. which is what my current phone is nga pala * ghosthunter.

satisfied with the P990i? I guess you could say that I am... AS a phone. considering prior to that was an XDAIIs and the P900, kahit na naka dalawang SEP9xx na ako (990 and the then 900), parang namimiss ko ata yung features ng XDAIIs -- na nasa utol ko na ngayon. hehe. mahirap namang bigay-bawi di ba?
