aaApp is common client application. it is use commonly by anti-virus software. Try to update your norton. This might fix your problem.

The corporate version of Norton Antivirus (antivirus only) is quite good and is what we have at work. But, I've never seen it for sale retail.

Two thumbs up then for AVG which is free and what I'm using at home.

naka avast din ako. nakakagulat yung alert nya kung may nadetect na virus especially if naka full blast ang speakers mo :bwahaha:

my laptop also came with norton antivirus and firewall. nung norton pa ang ginagamit ko, grabe ang tagal din mag shut down ng laptop. but when the license expired, i installed the free antivirus and firewall (avast and comodo), mabilis na mag shut down.

I believe that AVG (the free version atleast) expired on Fet 18, 2007. I just switched to AVAST so far so good.

this is because NAV-F consumes a lot of resources when running even on dormant mode. during shutdown, kailangan nyang lahat i terminate yung process bago sya mag off.

if your unit comes with 256 MB RAM, ramdam na ramdam mo ang gapang dahil sa NAV-F. in fact, maski naka 512 MB RAM ka.

but in fairness, NAV-F is very good, even its anti-spam solution. yun nga lang talaga sobrang resource extensive.

I thought that referred to v7.1. I have v7.5 Free here. The latest database is current as is the update which was earlier this morning.

If AVG is indeed done for, then there's always Norton Antivirus corporate edition which I'm authorized to use at home.

As a second backup, I have the Cox Cable Internet Security Suite (on the wife's pc) which is also free with my broadband. But, I'll hang on to AVG as long as I can.

Add: Yup. Grisoft is telling users to upgrade to 7.5 Free Edition because 7.1 will not be supported as of Feb 18, 2007.

In fact, Grisoft came out with a version of 7.5 that's compatible with Windows Vista. It's what I've been using when I'm in Vista RC1.

I'm using AVG on my desktop. Naka NAV naman ako sa laptop since kasama sya nung pagbili ko. Antayin ko lang mag-expire then mag AVG ako. Satisfied ako sa Grisoft.

    Jun,

Also using AVG V7.5 downloaded updates yesterday 2/18/07. Your correct that its V7.1 that expired.

And Norton is a notorious resource hog.

Don't see a reason to buy Norton when I can legally use AVG for free.

The Corporate Edition of Norton Antivirus isn't much of a resource hog. It's also not sold retail, available mainly to government employees, those that deal with the US government, and private corporations. So, I wouldn't be surprised if you don't have it. It is quite good and has no expiration date. I have an older version from 2003 on my laptop and it's still taking updated virus definition files up to now.

But, I also like AVG because it's still effective and legally free.
