only thing lacking is an optical drive and USB 3.0
best of all only 3 lbs

Just to compare:
My new netbook:
HP Pavilion DM1z * purchase price P21,700
specs:
AMD Zacate E-350 1.6Ghz Dual Core CPU
ATI Radeon HD 6310
4GB RAM DDR3
500GB HDD
11.6in LED high-definition display
6-cell battery
MS Windows 7 Home Basic 64bit
Window Experience index
cpu 3.8
memory 5.7
graphics 4.1
gaming graphics 5.6
hdd 5.9
----------------------------
I am curious that the Seagate Momentus XT hybrid HDD didn't rate a higher WEI score than the standard SATA HDD I have in my netbook.
As for my battery, HP says it can do 9.5 hours. So far the default settings got me 5.5 hours. I have tweaked some power for battery mode and Windows power meter reports a max battery time of over 7hours with 75% screen brightness.

July 17th, 2011 08:16 PM #5C4U, its a notebook thats netbook sized.
GH, I think you cant get higher than 5.9 without using a true SSD. The Seagate hybrid drive is pretty fast specially during boot ups. I have not timed it but I'm guessing it takes less than 45 seconds to become usable from the moment I press the power button.

Was also eyeing this laptop but got an Asus UL20FT instead because of the 12 inch screen size.

Just sharing... Finally bought an Asus K43SV last Saturday for a little over 32k. It has a 2nd Gen Core i5 2410M 2.3-2.9 GHz (Intel Turbo Boost) CPU with a 500GB HDD and upgraded memory to 4GB. I spent around 5 hours installing Win7 Ultimate x64 and Office 2010 with all the patches, service packs, along with the rest of my apps and data.
One small thing I didn't like. The LCD bezel (the piano-black shiny plastic around the LCD) can be easily scratched. I just sort of thumbed off some residue from the plastic wrap it was covered in and immediately made things worse by introducing hairline swirl marks. It's a comfort to know however that it can only be seen in certain lighting angles and it is virtually unnoticeable. I do like the aluminum palm rest and the chicklet-type keyboard as it adds a bit of class and luxury.
On the business side, the Core i5 CPU is snappy while the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M (1GB DD3 dedicated VRAM) makes this notebook suitable for both work and play. The notebook came with a CD that only has drivers for 64-bit OS only. This could matter if you prefer a 32-bit OS or if your application(s) won't run on a 64-bit version of Windows. The techie mentioned this to me as well, that I use 64-bit version of Windows as 32-bit driver support is limited at best.
planning to keep it for 15yrs just done 10,000 km already replaced the transfer case fluid w/...
