I need your help mga, bro.
hindi na mabasa yung external hd ko, it's an 80-gb seagate, 3.5 ", that i bought back in 2004.
recently, hindi na sya mabasa kahit saang pc or laptop pa sya i-connect. . .i thought it could be the housing so i brought it to cdr king and connected to a new housing pero hindi pa rin nabasa ng pc nila dun
wala it has not been subjected to any shock and there is not any sound coming out of it indicating tha it is damaged
questions:
me pag-asa pa ba 'to?
is there any pc shop (preferably in the qc area) where i can take it that can retrieve the data stored in it?
maraming salamat

if the dasd stops running then there is no way you can retrieve data from it.
pag kinokonekta mo ba yung external enclosure, may nararamdaman kang movement from it?

Possible HDD controller board failure. Replacing the board would give you access to the contents. But it might also fry the spare controller board as well if it wasn't the board.

Sorry to hear that bro.
After nun, ireconnect mo ulit sa PC mo yung HDD. Ang sabi nila, gagana yung device for a few minutes , enough para macopy yung files mo sa local drive mo, bago masira ulit. Paki google na lang sir. Pero nde ko pa nasusubukan yan. Pero since sira na nga din yung HDD mo, you might as well try it out.Last edited by goldencoil; January 28th, 2010 at 12:45 AM.

maraming salamat sa mga reply, mga bro.
*1D4LV,
no, i don't feel any moving parts when it is connected to a computer and power supply. . .btw, what i meant na walang sound indicating that it is physically damaged was a squeaking sound that i once heard from a damaged external hd
*gh,
i will try to visit tipidpc.com one of these days

i think it has something to do with the hard disk itself, baka power-related or talagang tumigil na yung motor.
its quite hard to diagnose without looking at the unit itself.
