Gee. DDR3 2400? Newegg doesn't even carry it yet.

The fastest DDR3 they carry is DDR3 2200. 4gb costs $275 (from an obscure brand). Ouch.

No, there are still a lot of non-solid caps.

Gigabyte uses Japanese solid-type caps but there are brands that use china type which of course is inferior.

And I am one of those. Basta as long as the components last their usable upgrade cycle (meaning bago sila malaos in terms of specs) I am happy with that already.

Its either special order or they don't carry it yet... Kaya naplitan ako mag 4000 series, oh well since cheap naman maybe 2 years from now I can buy a new video card and I am confident naman my mobo might still be useful specs wise in 2 years since AM3 socket and DDR3 na din...

Hmmm. You're right. I looked only at the AMD side and found several.

But most seem directed towards the older Athlon 64/X2/Phenom/Sempron. The exception would be Zotac motherboards. All were nVidia based and all have the old style capacitors even for the Phenom II.

As for the capacitor type..... So long as it uses the solid-state Conductive Polymer Capacitor (CPC) rather than the old-style electrolytic (soda can ), I'm happy.

Anyway, an article about Gigabyte's approach is here:

I could probably do a better job of tying up the cables and make them more appealing to the eyes. But, they're not in the way. So, meh. The only thing I hate with this current build is the big PSU. I was forced to take off the blow hole fan to accommodate it. Well, at least the case is roomy enough for a 5870-sized board.

some early testing for one of my hampas lupa rig.

used a used ek water block and a broken rechargable flashlight leds to be powered from the psu soon, as soon as I found out what ohms value should I use for a 4 volts led from a 5 volts psu source.

aparrently, the flashlight board cannot be wet. there is a .5 volts ground in the water. it creates some chemical reaction because of the light short... hanap pa ako ng solusyon...

I will be using a cheap used watercooling kit. I don't think this will be a suitable cooling for OC. but it would just cool down a old used cpu intel e2140 with a 17" crt monitor anyway. lol

Geez. What kind of overclock are you plannning? 2X rated speed?

I like my Phenom II X3 720 old-fashioned air-cooled. It's the classic Volkswagen Beetle of pc's. The only concession I made is to unlock the 4th core.

not really, I'm using a ready kit for that. a cheapo... and used pa. lol

this kit would probably make a small difference compared to stock fan.

I just want to try watercooling at the least cost as possible... though mahal parin in the end. specialy that reservoir and the barb.

    damage spent:

used Coolermaster water cooling kit complete pump+block+rads = 2,300
    used ek 250ml waterblock = 2,900
    used bitspower barbs 2pcs = 500 pesos

    =5,700

my main rig is using Coolermaster V8. I'm comfortable with fans because signs of worn out fan is obvious. sa water pump, di masyado napapansin... so I feel safe with fans for 24/7 use.

    costs 2,600 today

$5700 doesn't sound too bad. There are other kits costing 4x as much.

I suppose I'd try water-cooling too if I was over there where it's hot.

Here, outside temperatures tonight will drop to -9C (and it's only November). I could do safe overclocking if I turn the heat off to the computer room. Maybe I can use the pc to keep the room warm.

The room does feel warmer if I disable sleep mode and leave the pc on overnight.

yeah, I suppose... a real kit is no where that price indeed. lol

a rad alone would cost: 3.5k-5k
    pump: 4k-6k
    waterblock: 2k-5k
    reservoir: 2k-4k
    tubing: 250 per foot

    = super damage. lol

though *5.7k, it can buy me a GTS 250 or 4850 video card. lol

same here, despite my cpu is very cool and not overclocked when in 24/7 mode. I can feel my room being warmer.

Actually, you can also try an aquarium or a little aquarium with lots of ice, submersible pump and a copper water block.

you can also experiment if the cpu heat/ice blocks can kill goldfishes. :bwahaha:

Depende saan mo gagamitin? Pero para sakin try getting yung 9600GT na lang yun ang IMO (among Nvidia) the best bang for the buck.

if you're not into gaming and more of a pro like you edit and do CADD, you should consider QuadroFX or FireGL, even 2nd hand ones..

Maybe I'm just imagining things. But, when I was tying to find an HD 5850 earlier this month, I could've sworn the price was around $260.00 at newegg.com

Now, it's still hard to find and the price at newegg.com has jumped up to $309.99.

    WTF???????

My HD 5770 is holding steady at $164.99

The HD 5870 price went up to $409.99

For you guys with money to burn, the HD 5970 is only $599.99
