I think all motherboards switched to Japanese solid-state capacitors after 2006.
ngayon ko lang napansin, i5 boards are capable of handling DDR3-2400?
daig pa niya current i7 boards * 1600 lang...
there are also i5 boards that go as cheap as 5.3k the Asrock P55M Pro, CrossFireX ready pa
No, there are still a lot of non-solid caps.
Gigabyte uses Japanese solid-type caps but there are brands that use china type which of course is inferior.
And I am one of those. Basta as long as the components last their usable upgrade cycle (meaning bago sila malaos in terms of specs) I am happy with that already.
Its either special order or they don't carry it yet... Kaya naplitan ako mag 4000 series, oh well since cheap naman maybe 2 years from now I can buy a new video card and I am confident naman my mobo might still be useful specs wise in 2 years since AM3 socket and DDR3 na din...
Hmmm. You're right. I looked only at the AMD side and found several.
But most seem directed towards the older Athlon 64/X2/Phenom/Sempron. The exception would be Zotac motherboards. All were nVidia based and all have the old style capacitors even for the Phenom II.
As for the capacitor type..... So long as it uses the solid-state Conductive Polymer Capacitor (CPC) rather than the old-style electrolytic (soda can), I'm happy.
Anyway, an article about Gigabyte's approach is here:
