macbook pro VS vaio laptop?

i think, regardless of what model of vaio you're getting, the macbook pro would be a better deal since you'll easily have access to the native graphic programs of both platforms.

with parallels 3, running WinOS programs on OSX is just a click away (most of the time). and just in case parallels' performance feels a little sluggish, you can easily setup bootcamp and run an independent and fully functional WinOS as a dual boot option.

I dont know about mac, but for vaio with pre-installed vista - installing new programs or software is i can say hassle free since i haven't encounter any problems yet in terms of compatibility even the installed programs/software are running before from an older OS, and i can say these because i have tried it with my vaio fz series.

But it's a different story with my desktop running Xp. When migrating to vista, those software originally installed with Xp are having problems after migrating to vista. Later learned that all programs running with Xp must be uninstalled first b4 migating to vista and re-install after successful upgrade to vista.

im a vaio user and will be migrating to a macbook pro soon (as soon as the leopard comes out) program compatibility wise? problema pa ba sa mga macs yun ngayon? hindi na rin yata... i will be migrating to a mac na rin coz as sir glennster said ima be using photoshop coz of photog din. :D

i got vaio tx so far ok nmn! mac is nice too and besides good brand APPLE but speaking Grapics Alienware would be nice no regret!!!

In the past, I would've recommended a Mac laptop, hands down. Even now, it still is a sound recommendation. But, I've seen many graphics shops here that are using pc's with Windows only. So for many , a pc laptop would suffice, especially lower-priced ones with similar specs to a Mac Book Pro.

Now between a MBP and a Vaio laptop.......I'd probably go with the MBP although the lack of a built-in flash memory card reader would be an inconvenience. Just about every new pc laptop has a card reader of some sort built-in. So I can't see why Apple have chosen not to include one as well.

i'm also a Windows user pero sa mga tauhan ko yun ang gamit nila for design. pero ako Mac talaga lalo na pag ako mag-isa gumagawa ng design.

I design wall murals as large as yun mga nakikita sa mga mall stores ngaun and hindi pa ako naka Intel Mac. pero pag-tinry ko sa i-load sa mga computers namin sa office running on Pentium, mas mabagal siya. pareho naman 2GB RAM + high-end video card.

Mac all the way. Vaio laptops are somewhat overpriced :P kahit 15" ung MBP ok na din cos you'll have a wider workspace sa photoshop.

Mac is the way to go.

As stated here, if you still have some programs in PC, you can run either parallels, a software that allows you to run Mac OS and Windows at the same time.

Another option, as also mentioned, is the program boot camp, which comes with Mac OS Leopard but you can download it for free for older Mac OS incarnations. This allows you to choose which OS to run upon start up or restart.

I find Macs more stable and more cooperative.

I'm saving up for a MacBook Pro myself

Good question. I'd say no if the virus takes out just the Win OS itelf. But what if it's one of those that scrambles the boot block of of the hard drive? Hmmmm. Someone wanna volunteer to try it out?

i once had a virus infected thumb drive inserted to my mac book running windows, but since i have anti virus installed, it was able to block the virus from entering the system, but then i tried the same thumb drive using mac OS, nothing happened naman so far, everything is normal

since you would be doing mostly graphics, suggestion is to get a mac.
i have a vaio (luma) and i hate it kasi ang init ng ilalim! you cant put the laptop on your lap!

mbp isn't also advisable to be placed on your lap for a long period since it really gets hot, considering the material it is made of. am not sure with the macbook.

veering on to the the questiong: get the mbp! i've been using it for my presentations and tell you i've exploited it so much and am tremendously complacent with its performance. the built-in software are easy to explore and won't alienate you.
