medyo hassle, but you can download movies with DTS audio, then play mo sa tv.
madalas kasi dolby nalang supported format

Ganyan din balak ko, mag download ng HEVC x265 para ma test kung kaya, ito na kasi ang smallest files ngayon
I need to get another TV & I need recommendations. Will be needing it for Netflix for my mom. Bro & sis say Samsung or Sony but, how about LG & Sharp? What should I look for? & is there a wifi booster available?

Don't buy Sharp, we have 2 Sharp TVs, both have the same issue. I don't remember the part that the technician said, but it's something like the motherboard na if we replace, you are better off buying a new one. It "forgets" the memory settings so you have to program the TV everytime you turn it off, so I NEVER turn off my TV na. I just put it sa input para blank screen. Not sure lang how much that costs sa electricity, good thing lang, its been like that for years, hindi pa naman bumibigay hehe
Only LG for me. We had bad experience with the older big LED TVs (50”) of Sony and Samsung. So far our small 2015 Samsung 32” LED TV has been holding up well but our 2010 LG Plasma 55” TV is still doing well.
I am also looking at a new 4K LED TV and I might jump into the 65” LG UN80 model. They are on sale at Ansons for 49k. TCL has a 4K 65” P717 model being sold on sale for 37k nowadays.

The only LED TV that died early on us was a 3D model of Samsung. That one had the board conk out. Our other Samsung is around 4 years old and is now making loud noises intermittently. I suspect it might be the heatsink expanding/contracting from the mounting. We also have a couple of Sonys several years old and they're still ok but it is really hard to tell which one lasts longer. Most people have multiple TVs now so not one really gets used as much as TVs that came before.
Sony LEDs are f*cked up. ambilis masira nung led bulb niya sa strip. kapag na-busted yung isang bulb, kailangan palitan bago magamit ulit (idk if this is the case for all LED tvs)
Parang yung tvs ngayon parang phone na lang din mapapa upgrade ka kahit gumagana pa yung luma, after 3-5 years may bago na naman technology..
Yung ex ko din very disappointed with Sony. Ang mahal mahal pero problematic. They don't make Sony TVs like they used to Yung Trinitron namin bought in the early 90s BUHAY PA. But I won't be buying SOny TVs anymore
So I guess stay away from Sharp and Sony hehehe
Looks like LG maganda so that will be my next brand purchase when my Sharp conks out
I have never had problems with any of the brands of Plasma, LCD, or LED TV that I have owned: Panasonic, Sony, LG, MyView, TCL, Samsung.
My Panasonic plasma is already 13yrs old, Panasonic LCD is on its 9th yr. Others are newer, but are all more than 2yrs already.
I bought a new Sony 65" LED TV last year, so far so good.

so i guess,
reading all the above,
TVs now are all touch-and-go.
is it because many of them are now made in china?
i still have our 22+ year-old 25 inch CRT trinitron, in good condition.
i sidelined it in favor of the slightly-larger 32 inch surplus samsung the relative gave me.
LG seems like an excellent brand. Malapit na maging LG household kami. LG washing machine 9 y/o, LG Inverter Ref 5yo, LG double inverter ac 1.5 yo. Might be the brand for me.
How about the specs to look for? Basta smart tv ba?

I don't think so. I feel mas nagtatagal na mga gadgets now. I have a 50inch LCD TV, MyView brand, in my office, serving as CCTV monitor. It is ON for at least 8hrs every day (Mon-Sat). Bought it 2013. Haven't had problems with it.
Another Panasonic plasma 50", also serving as CCTV monitor, this one is ON for at least 10hrs everyday, bought 2010.

We have a Sony Bravia, lcd pa ito hindi pa led, bought in 2009. Sira na remote 100% working pa yung tv. Although granted we rarely use it kasi it has been moved from the sala to our bedroom since we bought new ones already. Sa bedroom naman we rarely watch TV.
We had a younger lg led TV na nasira, we didn't know kung ano sira. Basta ayaw lang mag on.
Yung current namin is tcl na nasa sala. My only problem with it is yung Netflix. Whenever we use Netflix laging error, we have to reset the app and enter the user name and password. You know how hard it is to type with remote control.

Pero if more on visual lang naman po concern nyo and not planning to upgrade 3-5 years from now.. Highly recommended po yung LG.. [emoji41]
For use with a PLDT Fibr wifi only. What will I look for?
