incandescent bulbs are the most energy-inefficient, but they are also the cheapest. we still have several in the house..
As a back up? Naka tago lang? Di ba ang lowest watts non is 25 watts? Sa lamp shade naka Incandescent pero bihira gamitin. the rest CFL gamit namin. Mag LED kami kapag may time na paalitan namin yun flourecent bulb with ballast.

Half the performance of almost any LED lighting is in the fixtures. As most fixtures would have some or most of the optics to augment the light that comes out of the bulb. You got to have the proper fixtures for your specific application.

For instance, when we rennovated our home, we got rid of all 40-watt straight and 32-watt circular fluorescent tubes and instead, put E26 recessed 4" pin-light fixtures where needed. Originally, the contractor had CFLs installed but I have since then have gradually replaced those with NXLED and GES LEDs.

E26 pin-light fixtures are perfect for LED bulbs. The reflector lines up very well with the LED and essentially no light is wasted.

nope! as a regular. but not in the most frequently-lighted fixtures... like sa bodega.. the batalan..
you can still get 100 watt incandescents, as well as 60, 25, 10 watters, even 5 watters for xmas..

those pinlights or recessed lights may look good for the office.. we tried them. but after less then a month, we begged the electrician to give us back the fluorescent tubes because them good-lookin' lights simply didn't give enough illumination for our needs..

^Cath, from experience, GES bulbs ang pinaka best bang for the buck. Highest lumens to watt ratio, competitive pricing, latest gen LED and emitters, easy warranty claim.

I tried Omni, Firefly, and NXLed as well. NXLed ok naman but expensive. Omni walang kwenta. Ang hina ng light. Firefly ok din, but 2nd gen lang yata LED niya.

Ang mura na talaga ng mga LED's ngayon. Kahit yung GE LEDs relatively mura na rin.

I bought 4 pcs of 5W GE LEDs priced at P 189.00 at Ace Hardware replacing 4 existing 11W CFLs for home use....before buying the GE LEDs I tried comparing them with Firefly's 5W LED and it turns out that GE LEDs are brighter that Firefly LEDs, even though both are of the same wattage. Although admittedly, mas mura yung Firefly for about P 20.00....Other brands are beyond my budget...

One of the 8 NXLEDs I bought in 2012 just died today. Just over three years.

Apparently, the LEDs are wired in series and if one burns out, it breaks the circuit and the other LEDs won't light up. This is exactly what happened to my light. One LED burnt out (centered in the picture with a blackened pit on it). There's still power coming out of the rectifier so technically, all I need to do is to solder in a new LED. It should be an easy task to revive this bulb (which I bought for a hefty sum way back), if I can find a suitable replacement.

try raon (haven't gone there in decades, but they were the mecca of everything electronic back then).
    or alexcom in some malls.
    maybe even banawe...

i'm still not completely sold on LEDs for home or office.. i still prefer flourescents. they offer less shadow.. more uniform light distribution..
    but that's just me.

just replaced the 2x 7w firefly leds in my room with 2x ges 9w leds ... and then there was light
just replaced the always ON front door light and the ON and OFF bathroom light cfls with the fireflys, less power consumption but brighter, not bad at all
    so firefly good, ges better

they're not called fireflies for nothin'.
for busy areas, try 22 or 33 watt circular fluorescents, or 40 x 2 straight tubes, and you'll see how good (or drab) your place really is!
for the bath, i use circular fluorescents or 40 watt straight tube.
for 24/7 lights, that's where i use fireflies.
for areas that are exposed to water, i use incandescents. fireflies and LEDs aren't water resistant. it says so on the etiketa, and i have experience that says they ain't.

my room used to have a single 40w circular "cfl" see pic

but was on the mid-side of a 10 sq mtr room, so medyo dark in some areas. now with 2x 9w equally distributed lights, mas ok daw sabi ni gf. ok nako basta mapalitan lang ng led madalas kasi ako magpalit ng bulb dahil patay sindi ako ng ilaw hehehe

LEDs power consumption is great, medyo malaki pagitan.before our normal eletric bill is around 17k amount now nasa 13k na lang,Pero 4 of our AC pinalitan din to inverter, total of 37 leds ang napalitan na.the only thing I hate with the leds ay ung glare ang sakit sa mata pag na titigan.ung color temp nya ok naman parang relax ung kilay or reflection lang sa granite.

I am planning to convert our decorative circular fluorescent lamps with LEDs,- DIY, and I am torn between:

    1. Using the old housing and diffuser - and replacing the ballast, starter and circular fluorescent lamp with LED (and its power supply). The circular LED lamp fits the current hook-holder perfectly.

    = - = - =

    2. Replacing the whole assembly with decorative circular LED lamp like this: [how the old one was mounted; and how the new one will be mounted is a concern for me...]

I am certain that a number of tsikoteers have already converted. How did you do it? And how was it?

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=

Lastly, I am not a fan of converting the current decorative circular fluorescent lamp with a socket and screw a circular LED in it, like this...

Depends on the cost difference between 1 & 2 options. If not much difference, it would be option 2.

I just did the first option. Too much hassle to removed the whole housing and replace with a new one.

I have tried the two types yun GES na close circular shape talaga and ilalagay na lang sa existing clips and the cheaper version na panel type na magnet ididikit doon housing. Same [emoji529]

Mas mura lang yun open panel circular type.

I can buy 3 of the open type for the price of 1 GES close circular type

Saka out of stock sa lahat ng mall based hardware yun GES na 32w circular LED

^^^ Thanks bro.,- my other concern in removing the housing(option2) is, the dirt-footprint that may be visible on the ceiling as the footprint of the replacement decorative LED lamp is less than that of the decorative fluorescent lamp....

Cost of option 1 or 2,- is around P800...

Cost is around 350 for the open circular panel type. Super cheap but you have to buy it in Binondo.
